Summary: Ilyana wants to talk to Erk. Erk isn't sure whether to hope for something or not.
Warnings: Very confused fluff, maybe? These two don't do too much warning-worthy, usually.

Her talk with Pepper had helped Ilyana figure out how she really felt. She wasn't confused anymore and knew that she needed to give Erk her answer.

She walked up to the cafe and saw him waiting for her. "Hello, Erk," she said with a smile.

Erk smiled back, trying to calm down. "Hello, Ilyana. How are you?"

"I'm good! How are you, Erk?" she asked as she sat down at the table.

"I'm fine, thank you." Erk cleared his throat apprehensively. "What was it you wanted to talk to me about, Ilyana?"

Ilyana had thought that she would go bright pink, but she somehow managed not to. "I... still haven't given you a proper response about what you told me during the truth plot..." She had been avoiding looking at him until now and she finally did. "I... I like you too." She had said it. It felt good to say, as if a weight had been lifted off of her.

Erk could hardly believe it. "Ilyana..." What should he say now? He had no idea what he was doing; he'd never managed to tell a girl he liked her before, let alone find out that she felt the same way.

"Er... Sorry, that was rather sudden wasn't it..." now she felt her embarrassment coming back. She wasn't quite sure what to do in the situation at all.

Erk smiled, looking rather embarrassed himself. "No, no, it's just... I honestly have no idea what to say. 'Thank you' doesn't really seem appropriate."

Ilyana gave a small laugh. "That makes two of us then."

"Well, at least it is both of us." Erk had to laugh, too. "We may not know where to start, but at least we have somewhere to start from. You're in the first section at your academy, my master is the Mage-General of Etruria; if the two of us can't figure something out, no one can say we didn't try."

She laughed a bit more. "That's certainly true!"

It felt good to have a chance to laugh - especially since not only had a weight been lifted off Erk's mind, it had happened in a way that he'd barely dared to hope was possible.

Ilyana's stomach chose that exact moment to growl particularly loudly. She blinked a couple of times and hoped that he hadn't heard, though it was loud enough that he probably had.

Erk looked startled, then smiled. "I suppose it is lunchtime. And we're already in a restaurant, luckily. Would you like to have lunch?"

She smiled back at him. "That would be wonderful!"

"Well, what would you like?" He suspected he knew what the answer would be, but he wasn't sure he was allowed to joke about how much she ate yet.
