Summary: Maria goes to take refuge at Rouge's place, away from Shadow, and explains what's happened.

It took Maria longer than she'd predicted to make her way up the long set of stairs to the Paj floor. She'd never walked them all, and even with the progression of her disease being slowed here by medication, she'd had to stop and take a break for a moment at the top of Om.
Had she been this weak when she'd arrived? She couldn't remember, but she didn't think so. Time continued to pass, and slowly, things were changing for her.
But it hadn't stopped her, not yet, and she fought against her unwilling legs to make it to Rouge's door. She gave herself a moment to catch her breath, then knocked.
