When: During the hallucination plot.
Summary: Kon goes to check on Rumor after she tells him she's dead.
Warnings: Cursing, hallucination plot stuff.
A good part of the office was destroyed, a trash can upended, one of the windows shattered, Reptilator's cage in ruins, though the mechanical lizard himself was fine, perched blithely on the top of the desk and oblivious to the girl hiding beneath it, mask hanging off of her face while she tried to keep it in place through silent tears.
Rumor had made the mistake once -- only once -- with her powers, fucked everything up and crossed lies. She had died. It had left that mark, seeing herself lying in a pool of blood, shot point blank between the eyes. That was the kind of world she lived in -- kill or be killed, make a mistake and sorry pal, you're a goner. It scared the ever living hell out of her, and to have to relive it?
Later she'd make quips about it, but the hero was glad that Kon was on his way over, that anyone at all was coming, it didn't matter who. She'd almost sent a call out herself, but then remembered that her team wasn't there, no Spaceboy, no Kraken, no Seance, no Violin. Not even dad. The being dead part -- Rumor could almost handle that. Almost. But not having her family there, for all their faults and quirks made it all the more worse, and that's what had started the waterworks.
