Characters: AU: Hino Rei/Sailormars, OPEN Where: The Park When: A little bit after this entry Summary: After some new information, Mars needs to meditate to calm her anger. Warnings: None yet.
"Good afternoon, Sailormars!" The seemingly cheerful and light-hearted greeting came from a girl with blue hair and a uniform similar to Rei's but in blue and decorated differently, its accents more black than white. She'd watched the girl for several minutes before making her presence obviously known; she was unsure whether the priestess had sensed her anyway or been too immersed in the fire reading. Mercury's lips curled in something between a smile and smirk. She took several strides forward, the confident heel-toe step making her appear to almost glide in a wave-like rising and falling motion. Her voice was carefully modulated, pleasant, even.
Mars had indeed been a bit immersed in her reading to properly detect Mercury as she came up... so when the water senshi made her presence known, it startled Mars a bit. She whipped her head around towards Mercury's direction, then relaxed in her kneeled stance.
"Mercury." Her voice was calm, one might say she was at ease right now. "Need the fire to tell you something?"
"No, but if you want to tell me something, you can." A little smile accompanied the teasing words, a tacit admission of curiosity. Mars had been hard at work; Mercury had known that look.
The water senshi wasn't sure, for a moment, whether she was pleased or insulted by Mars relaxing her guard once she recognized her. She decided to be pleased. They were allies. There was no need for this Mars here to be on-guard about her, not as things were right now. In a place like that, you can't afford to be picky, Kunzite had warned her in that dream, and she'd known he was right anyway.
Mars was still kneeling, and Mercury moved to stand just behind her and to the side. "What were you talking about earlier?"
Kon had been leaning out the window of his apartment building when the smoke caught his eye. In Metropolis, it'd be just another vandalism, maybe a car crash, and Kon had ignored it -- until it occurred to him that the compound lacked both cars and vandals (apart from those big brother posters -- and most vandals weren't that well read). He had raced down to the park as fast as he could only to find there wasn't really much of an emergency. Fire was big but the girl had it under control.
Kon leaned back against one of the park trees to rest a moment. Maybe running when he wasn't feeling well had been a bad idea. He watched the play of the flames, finding the movements of the girl somehow soothing. He didn't understand what was going on, but by te time Rei went into her trance, Kon didn't want to move, afraid somehow to break the spell. It wasn't until she stood that Kon realised how long he'd been standing there.
Mars pushed her hair from her face, content with what her reading had just been. She knew her answer, she knew what needed to be done.
To be cautious, she started walking around the fire. She wanted to make sure it was being well-contained, and to make a small sweep of the area. Even though she wasn't in Crystal Tokyo, Rei still felt paranoid. It was then that she saw him, leaning against the tree. Had he been watching her this entire time? She couldn't fault him - the cleansing fire soothed a lot of souls.
"Hey," Kon said, standing as he returned Rei's greeting. "Sorry, I -- didn't mean to watch, just -- didn't expect to see anything like this out here." There were cracks to be made about smores and hot-dogs but somehow Kon felt that wouldn't be right somehow.
He held out his hand hastily, hoping that my moving fast enough he could stop the awkward moment getting any awkwarder. "Kon L. Luthor. Hi."
Mars glared at him, violet eyes narrowing. It wasn't that she didn't appreciate the witty retort, it was just the way he said it. "Each senshi is bestowed these powers at birth by their guardian planet. It is our birthright."

Yes, she was being a bit cryptic about it for the moment. What she was planning on doing, eventually...
"I'm going to take the Ginzuishou from her."

She wasn't about to give out her real name at the moment. "It's fine to watch. Sorry if the fire startled you... it makes me feel more at home."
