Juudai had been intending to circle the compound lazily while walking, and had only made it about halfway around before spotting a familiar boy in black who appeared to be sulking.

"Oi, Manjoume!" Juudai called, changing direction in order to approach him. "What's up? You don't look too happy."

Upon hearing his name by such a (though usually annoyingly) familiar voice, Manjoume looked up, attempting (though rather failing) to pass the very lost look on his face off as simply exhaustion. He might have actually been willing to respect this Judai to a point, but that didn't mean he was naturally inclined to spill all of his guts in front of the guy.

(Though, that didn't mean he would be able to avoid that right now, but he could try.)

He replied, in a somewhat tired tone that suggested that he wasn't particularly in the mood to talk, "Just trying to get some bad memories to go away. That's all."

"Ah... I see. Looking at your deck or something to take your mind off it?" Juudai asked, sounding casual. He worried about Manjoume, yes, but it took a very delicate mix of both prodding and leaving him alone at the right times to get him to come out to you about anything.

"It's funny... usually the Ojamas would be out pestering you about it by now in some way," he noted, a bit concerned at their absence. The area around Manjoume was awfully sullen and quiet without them, and his various reactions to them.

Great. He was bringing them up. Of course he would.

Usually, Manjoume would have fallen silent at this point, if not outright told Judai to go away. Unfortunate that the truth stuff wasn't going to let that happen.

Turning his head away, he responded, "No, looking at it is what caused this in the first place.

"And the reason they aren't pestering me," he attempted to hide the worry in his voice with bitterness, "is because I don't have their cards. Not anymore."

Juudai said nothing for a moment, doing a bit of a double take.

"You... don't? Did something happen?" He remembered how Manjoume had summarized all the horrible things that had been going on in his world since before he'd arrived; Fubuki's death, the Light's conquest and the Seven Stars' mission coinciding with it... his own defeat and depression...

"...Well, I guess that's kind of a stupid question, based on what I know of your world. I think a better question would be 'what happened to them?'"

"I threw them away," Manjoume responded simply, in a tone that was meant to convey a sense of 'why on Earth do you want to know' but bordered more on that intense worry than anything else.
