As with any fair, the sounds of chattering and laughter and merriment had their place. They were subdued, given Econtra's small size and perhaps also its situation, but they existed nonetheless. Groups mingled, small or large, circles expanding to include others and then contracting again if their members left. They combined into one and broke into several. Some held food from the cookout, some wore their summer kimono with varying levels of comfort or awkwardness. This was a moment to forget the pressing war for just a few hours.

'Forgetting the war', and more importantly 'wearing a dress' were not necessairly two things that Wave did. Still, she'd heard about a festival. The only thoughts being that there was finally something to do here. The purple summer kimono swaying slightly as she walked alone, she tried to look for people familiar to her. Surely, SOMEONE she knew would be around...

Mars had a few moments to spare from her booth, and was wandering through the makeshift festival grounds when she saw the swallow. For a moment, it was a very strange sensation. Phobos and Deimos, her advisers in the past life, had been reincarnated into this one as crows. Yet if anything, they switched between the two forms; the bird before her now seemed like a mixture of them.

By now, Mars was familiar enough with Econtra not to be too taken aback. She offered a polite greeting as she passed nearby. "Good evening."

"Good evening." She merely replied, feeling slightly awkward at being seen in said summer kimono. Still, it was something new to try, and she had no recollection of ever talking to this person. Then again, over the communicators, it was often hard to tell exactly what species was on the other end,

"Wave," She then said, introducing herself. She gave a slight salute, "Pray tell me, what are we celebrating?"

"It's Tanabata. It celebrates the day in summer when, according to legend, a pair of ancient lovers are allowed to meet in the Milky Way for that one evening, if the weather stays clear." It was a shortened, simple version of the story, but likely sufficed.

"Every year it's celebrated in my country in my world," she added. "And it's a clear night." A small smile.

"I see," She replied, clearly interested. She took a look around her. All the stalls and decorations around her had clearly had a great deal of time and effort put into them, "And this is a special festival in your world?"

"It is in my country," Rei answered, "But I don't think it's well known outside of there and a few other countries close to it." The story of the weaver-girl and herd-boy, their deep love that had led them to neglect of their true duties, the eventual capitulation that allowed them to see each other just that once per year.

"It's certainly interesting to be celebrating the festivals of other worlds," she seemed to reply then. Her curiosity about the name of the 'dress' seemed to get the better of her, "And what do you call this clothing?"

She tried to merely smile, being slightly embarrassed having been caught in the 'dress' by someone she knew. Nonetheless, at least someone she knew was finally down in the festival,

"Good evening," she said, "Interesting festival, huh?"

"We rarely have time to celebrate anything back home," came the reply. The work she did was usually hard. There had been some nights where she'd been up all night working just to help out. "Keeping your eye constantly on an enemy is hard work."

"Well, I've certainly LEARNT a few new things," She replied to that, "But, the boredom can be annoying." She'd often find herself just walking around out of complete boredom, or popping into the library or park, just for the sake of things to do, "I guess that might just be because I'm used to working a lot though."

She gave a slight laugh at the mentioning of the age changes. That had certainly been one of the more interesting incidents, and she couldn't help but find it amusing when she had read another journal about someone being pranked,

"Some of those 'incidents' do prove to have interesting results, yes."
