After his escape from the dreaded basement office building room, Brainy had gleefully shimmied all the way to his current destination: the park. Brainy had found himself a very large three, the branches winded up wards in such ways that made it that made it daunting, as it loomed over the park.

Brainy was walking into it.

"Ow."

Clang.

"Ow."

Clang.

"Ow."

The noise drew Kaylee's attention, drew her gaze away from the water and up toward its own source. Her pace faltered, then stopped, and she blinked large brown eyes at the peculiar spectacle before her. Green boys who walked into trees were not the norm, in her experience, and her brow furrowed slightly in mingled bafflement and concern.

"Hey, everythin' okay?" she called, hesitating a moment before heading up toward the boy and his tree. "You ain't hurt or nothin', are ya?"

Despite himself, he walked again, "ow" and again, "ow". Okay, he's not stopping. "Ow."

Nope, he's done.. "Ow."

Spoke too soon.
He turned to her and smiled gleefully, then looked her up and down. "GREASE MONKEY!" He proceeded to wrap his arms around her affectionately, and snuggled.

Kaylee uttered a quiet squeak of surprise - and impact. Being snuggled by green boys who had just been walking into trees moments previous was also not the norm. She recovered quickly enough, however, stifling a quiet laugh and returning the hug with the easy warmth of one who likely serves as a perfect mark for lost children.

"Hey there," she said brightly. "Name's Kaylee. You okay?"

Alphonse had been staring out at the water himself for quite some time. It was cooler now that it was evening...he had long since removed his heavy hooded coat to repel the summer heat. His brother had been avoiding him for some days now, and despite his self-reassurances he was worried. Edward probably hated him for what he had done now...

It had all been for Ed. Why wasn't he at least happy that they could actually get close to one another without Edward harming him now?

Edward had always blamed himself for everything, he understood that. But was it really out of a sense of guilt, or something else...?

He looked up suddenly at the humming, a little surprised at the girl's sudden appearance. But at least she had something to be happy about. "Hey. Nice view, isn't it." He managed a grin, enjoying the company. Company was just what he had wanted...and it was pretty.

She was lucky the smoke from Urd's potion had worn off.

Kaylee grinned in return, easygoing and bright for all that the expression was the next best thing to reflex. She came to a halt, posture all casual ease and friendly cheer. "Hey yourself. It sure is. Shame it's probably still all cold from winter, ain't it?" She gestured out toward the water with one hand, as though to make clear just which 'it' she was referring to.

In curiosity he stretched his hand down to touch the water. "Pretty cool. But still better than this heat." He cupped some of the water in his hand and brought it up to his face, running it down over his face and the back of his head to cool off.

"Reminds me of a swimming place near where I grew up back home. My brother and I found an old rope and we'd take turns swinging out to the deeper end and jumping in." He snickered a bit, grinning. "I almost landed on him once."

"Don't seem that bad yet. The heat, I mean." Kaylee bent to dip her own fingers into the water, curiousity sparked by curiousity. She uttered a quiet hum of thought. "Wouldn't be that bad in the sunlight, I don't think. Leastaways you could warm up quick after."

She looked up at him, the corners of her lips twitching faintly as she struggled to feign gravity. "Only once? My cousins always swore it weren't a proper day at the swimming hole 'til at least one of us got half-drowned."

Lyle Norg skidded onto the scene, running a hand through his hair and glancing every which way. He was obviously searching for something, and frantically. His wide brown eyes landed on Kaylee, and he cupped his hands around his mouth, calling over to her.

"Hey! Have you seen...uh..." He paused, looking to the side as if trying to figure out how exactly he could describe who he was looking for. Glancing back at Kaylee, Lyle made his way over and started again. "I'm looking for my friend, Brainy. Brainiac 5? Short," He indicated the height with his hand, "Blond hair, green skin...Kinda acting nutty?" He waggled his hand back and forth between them, as if to illustrate Brainy's current mental instability.

Kaylee did not think there could possibly be enough blond, green skinned boys around for the young man to be looking for a separate one than she'd met. Still she eyed him curiously for a moment before smiling. "Been wonderin' if he had anyone takin' care of him. Went off that way just a little bit ago." One hand raised to indicate which direction 'that way' was. "Though I'm afraid I can't speak to how long he mighta stayed goin' that way."

She hesitated, friendly expression softening into one of obvious concern. "He ain't sick or hurt or nothin', is he? Didn't know if there were folk I should wave, an' he didn't seem too bad off, just...strange."

Lyle sighed, looking around in the indicated direction. "It'd be easier to take care of him if he stayed in one place long enough for me to catch him."

He glanced at her in slight surprise at her concerned questioning, then smiled warmly, reassuringly. "Yeah, don't worry. He isn't normally like that, its some natural process that his people go through." Lyle didn't want to talk about the alignment without Brainy's permission. He had to get going-didn't want to lose what little trail he had on the short Coluan, but he felt the girl had the right to know everything was okay. "Sorry about bothering you, Miss. Thanks for the information."

"Truth to say, he seemed a bit edgy 'bout bein' caught," Kaylee noted, her tone faintly apologetic. "Took off runnin' when I asked if there was anyone might be lookin' for him."

The mechanic's smile displayed obvious relief. For all that she didn't know either young men, native compassion was enough to drive her to genuine concern. "Ain't no bother," she assured. "Hope you catch up with him all right."
