Summary: Kaylee takes advantage of a pleasant evening to go out and see what she might see.
Warnings: Potential death by chipper?
It was an old habit kept over from before Kaylee had found herself employed on Serenity, this waiting until the sun had crept well past its zenith to venture outdoors to explore. It was a simple trick useful for avoiding the full heat of the day, and while she was certain it wasn't necessary here, at least as of yet, it still felt obscurely comforting. As little enough else had so far, she was determined to take what she could get, even if it was simply evening's slow cooling.
She trod through the grass along the waterside, step careful only in that each step hesitated a half-second, searching for sinkholes that might tangle her stride and send her sprawling. Or splashing into the water fully clothed. She hummed to herself as she wandered, the tune a half-beat off of where it should be, but merry enough for all that it had only a passing acquaintance with anything resembling musical competence. The glint of the evening sun off of the water made her squint, and she eyed it consideringly. If the weather remained warm, she would have to see about finding some swimwear.
