...well, not since her son died.
"Oh my god," she breathed, transfixed at the sight. Might William have grown up capable of such a feat? She felt tears begin to wet her lower lashes, and forcefully blinked them back.
Only a few years ago, she might not have believed what she was seeing. She would have found a way to explain it, rationalize it, quantify it within normal boundaries. She might have chalked it up to the lingering effects of high levels of radiation, or exposure to an unknown narcotic. Now, however, all she could do was stare and be shaken at the enormity of the event.
"Oh, Mulder. You should be here now to see this." Her voice was hushed but thick. "You should be here."

He came to stand next to Scully, eyes transfixed on the sight before him, though it did seem that this observation was at least partially directed at her.

An anthropomorphic fox dressed like Robin Hood.
Did everything here feel the need to shake the very foundations upon which she set the world?
She quickly cleared her throat, and snuck a hand upwards to brush her eyes dry. "I have," she replied, somewhat shaky. It was inevitable that she'd end up divulging her past at some point; how much of it was still her decision.

"I had a son who could do this sort of thing, but on a much smaller scale," she said, choosing her words carefully. No need to upset (what looked to be) a little kid with stories of government experiments.

He decided not to push her though. "I've never seen someone do something like this before unaided, but there are a few artifacts in my world that could do similar things. Like the Master Emerald. Back home it's used to keep a whole island a float in the sky. Most people don't think it exists, but I've seen it with my own eyes."

"And through space."

Then there were the things he was saying, something about space stations and an egg man (surely he was too young to know songs by the Beatles?). She assumed he was describing an imaginary game he liked to play, perhaps with his friends, and was so certain that she didn't think to ask if that was the case. Sure, she knew children who had lived extraordinary lives--Gibson Praise, the telepath, came to mind--but it was always due to something they couldn't control, something an outside force wanted to manipulate to their own ends. It was never pleasant for the children involved.
"Your world sounds exciting," she commented. "Are any of the people you know from back home here with you?"

He nodded, smiling a little. "My best friend, Sonic, is here and so are two versions of Shadow, though neither one of them is from the same universe. No one else though. What about you? Anyone you know here?"

After a pause, she smiled down at Tails. "I had a friend back in my world, and I think he would have liked you very much. His name was Fox," she explained.

However, when she mentioned her friend named Fox however, he couldn't help, but giggle. "Really?"

"He would have been fascinated by you. Creatures such as yourself don't exist where we lived. There are foxes, but they lack sapience. They're just ordinary animals." A small, thoughtful smile unfolded upon her face. "He was always looking for proof of things beyond the scope of normal human understanding. I think he would have been a better choice to fight for this world than myself."
