okay, so i've been lazy about updating this week. let's see...
on Tuesday, i had an appointment with the nutritionist (bleh). since it was also the last day of classes, J decided to join me for a little bit of downtown shopping. i got a couple of new movies at Metro Video, but valiantly resisted buying others. snooped the pen store. then J took me to a place called Superior Pants. very cool place. you walk in and it's just shelf after shelf of jeans, of many brands. the cool part of it, though, is the fact that they do alterations on the spot for free when you buy your jeans. we had a little difficulty getting my size right (between the vagaries of brands and the US to metric conversion), but finally i found a couple of pairs of jeans that are pretty good. now, i already bought new jeans earlier this fall, but for the fit and the alterations, i went ahead and spent more money on jeans that i should have. of course, one pair were Parasuco, and those suckers are expensive. we had dinner at a Vietnamese restaurant in Chinatown. best imperial rolls ever! yummy. happy and full, we walked through the cold all the way back to Ste. Catherine so we could hit a bookstore. went to Indigo for once, and i was able to find the two books i was specifically looking for. yay! by then, we were tired and sore of foot, so we headed down to the metro and back out the West Island. stopped at Rockaberry for dessert...which ended up being too much, but oh well. rented a couple of movies on the way home and watched one before crashing.
got up sorta early on Wednesday, so that we could watch the second movie (Superman Returns). J got to see my lovely zombie impression. what can i say? i'm not at my best before noon. didn't get anything done at work, but i went to the gym afterwards as if i was a good girl. when i got back from the gym, though, J invited me out to a German restaurant, and i couldn't say 'no' to that. Le Petit Munich isn't bad at all. i got to have 'Oktoberfest' sausages and saurkraut and German potato salad (oh joy!). brought half of it home with me, but it's not like i mind. also had a really tasty mandarine orange and Bavarian cream layer cake thing. yum yum yum.
didn't get much done at work on Thursday either. i've been spectacularly unmotivated this week. i've even gone so far as to rearrange my music collection and fill in all the missing information (album names and whatnot). okay, i'm only to the C's; it's taking forever. J and i went to T.W.I.G.S. and knit even though the club meetings are technically over for the semester. guess we're both creatures of habit. we did make a change, though. instead of watching CSI at her apartment down the road from the cafe, we went all the way to my apartment to watch it. why? because we both had the urge to watch Shrek 2 afterwards. well, she started it. she'd had "Holding out for Hero" (or whatever the song title really is) stuck in her head all day and had thus been listening to the two versions off the Shrek 2 soundtrack. she told me this and spread the earwig, so we had to go watch the movie. we also watched the first episode of Ranma 1/2 season 3 and last night's episode of Supernatural. mmmm...Dean and Sam.
took the really long way into work today. okay, i really just didn't notice that they'd moved the lane again (they're doing road construction on the Ste. Anne de Bellevue exit) and accidentally passed it while i was trying to detour around one of the new manhole covers that is still four inches higher than the road. thus, i had to go back on the autoroute, turn around on Ile-Perrot, drive all the way back to the Morgan exit (the eastbound Ste. Anne ramp is closed), turn around again, and re-take the Ste. Anne exit. can we say ditz? and the morning had started so well. my postman finally brought me my new books from
The Folio Society. a matched set of four Robert Louis Stevenson books (with my already purchased copy of Treasure Island it's five)! a pretty copy of The Secret Garden! The Complete Miss Marple Short Stories! *squees* it's agony waiting until this evening to open the box and look at my new pretties!
one of my simulations has finished, but the server isn't letting Cora connect so i can't graph it out as planned. see, i was going to do work. i really was. but the universe doesn't want me to do so. ; ) actually, the server room is overheated again so poor Louise may be a little bit scrambled. i will have to try and discipline myself to do some of my boring, ongoing work. at the very least i should transfer some of my Matlab files to my JumpDrive, so i can put them on Maia. there, that's one thing i accomplished this week; i installed Matlab on Maia so i can work at home this winter.
anyway, the holidays are creeping up fast this year, and i have much to do. should get some stuff done at work before i go. and i need to clean my apartment and get holiday cards sent out, as well. and finish my gift shopping. busy busy. and lazy lazy.
P.S. apologies for the horrifically long post.
