Sorry for the sporadic to non-existent LJ posts of late. I've spent most of the last two-and-a-half weeks mired in the New York State judicial system as Juror #1. We were hearing a murder trial, and of course, we weren't supposed to talk about that. It was an interesting, educational, exhausting experience but I'm glad to have served--this was my first trial as a juror and I would not mind doing it again whenever I'm called. Unfortunately, after four days of intense deliberation, we ultimately weren't able to reach a verdict. We ended up deadlocked 11-to-1 (and no, I wasn't the holdout, though I easily could have been). So yeah, back to the office tomorrow. Another bright spot is I've had some time to catch up on writing in my weird court hours, but not on LJ or e-mail or Twitter.
Now that I'm "back," there's obviously stuff I may have missed on the internet. So if there's anything you posted about that you think I should know, please leave a comment. I think I'm probably going to continue to limit my blogging, Tweeting, and time online for the next few weeks; I'm trying to get to the end of a first draft on my novel, and I'm about to start work on the spring issue of the Clarion West newsletter as well. Apologies if I'm slow to respond to e-mail or phone calls, and minimize my socializing a bit during the busy month of May. It's not you, it's me.
One of the things taking up some of my time lately are these Star Trek reviews for Tor.com. We always appreciate comments on our posts, and encourage you to spread the word far and wide, to fans and non-fans alike. My review of
"Dagger of the Mind" was just posted this afternoon. If you have a moment, please check it out and add your own two quatloos!
