So, some of 2008 ROCKED (um, wedding?). And some of 2008 SUCKED balls (house. boo.)
I'm not entirely sad to see it go. In fact, I'm rather looking forward to 2009.
My only real resolutions this year are to put some money in savings, and lose about 800 pounds. Ok, not 800. Only 400. Anyway. Plan to buy an elliptical trainer in mid-January. Suggestions are welcome. It will NOT be a treadmill, because my knees will hate me forever.
This was really the best Christmas EVAR. Originally, I thought we'd be in much worse shape financially. Then it turned out we were doing fairly well, so I went batshit crazy with presents. Who, me? Neverrrr! I bought all kinds of fun things for people, and had a great time stimulating our economy.
Then, I had about 5 Christmas parties, which was ridiculous. I got SO much cool shit, I'm not even kidding. It was insane. Jason bought me
this. Because he's OUT OF CONTROL. I freaked out; it's a lotta bling! Besides my wedding & engagement rings, by FAR my favorite piece of jewelry ever. MAN thassa lotta diamonds!
I got several books I wanted, including some short stories by Neil Gaiman, the newest PostSecret book, 'Just After Sunset', which is Stephen King's newest book of short stories (I have an addiction). I very rarely buy books for myself, not including textbooks, so it was pretty exciting to get a lot of ones I'd been looking forward to.
Massive amounts of chocolate, a 4-pack of Milano cookies, some dipping spices and other fun food things (although EVERYBODY on god's green earth got something baked from
momily EXCEPT me--but I made it well known that I expect something yummy in the near future). Jason got me more stuff from Victoria's Secret, which is always a nice surprise; my sis (
alabamadragon) got me the HOTTEST blue eyeshadow from...M.A.C.!!!! I only have a few pots of MAC, but my god I love that stuff.
Personalized holographic purple pencils that say 'Kerry Hess'...I mean, how much better does it get? A coffee mug from Pigeon Forge, TN--a pottery that closed years ago and I have a few remaining, very special pieces from; an 8GB thumb drive (I'm so fancy!), a bottle of my favorite wine, gift card to Micheal's, giant collage photo frame, a GORGEOUS wooden box handmade by my stepdad: He made a bunch of these boxes in the past few months, and every time I saw them I drooled over this particular box; it's eggplant purple & made with Purple Heart wood...!!!
A *sweet* golden Buddha ornament for my Christmas tree (heee!), plus several other fun ornaments & pins, a digital photo keychain, The Dark Knight DVD (!), a new AirBake cookie sheet, my niece Adara got me an adorable snowglobe (how did she know I collected those??), a big firebowl from my Dad (s'mores!), and about 80 billion other awesome things.
I REALLY racked up. It's insane. This was the most amazing Christmas, and I got to spend a lot of time with my family, which I feel like I never get to do. Many of them I hadn't seen since my wedding in May.
Now, I have to go back to work tomorrow (boo), but also, classes start tomorrow (yay!). I'm taking History of the English language, which is going to ROCK, and Dramatic Literature, which will also rock, and Abnormal Psychology, which I have wanted to take for YEARS. I'm really psyched. I'm hoping that soon
alabamadragon and my hubby will sign up for classes and get all psyched about it, too!
I hope everyone else had a wonderful holiday season! 2009 will be wonderful, I just know it :-D
PS--I saw Seven Pounds, with Will Smith, and it was the best acting I've ever seen him do, ever. And yes, it was slightly predictable, but it was also incredibly moving. I cried a little, I ain't scared to say it. Go watch it.
