Settling In At CAMSPAC

CAMSPAC is turning out to be a pretty neat place! I'm still a bit surprised by how small it is in relation to the TRACEN. Your new base sounds about the size of Sector Northern New England. There's just a single building for Operations, a teeny little barracks building (I think they have six rooms, possibly), a very small boat house for their cutter and a couple of patrol boats, and there is an e-club, but it's only got room for a couple of small tables and a bar. And no one really uses it that I know of. There's a gate, of course, but most of the time, they buzz people in and out by camera through most of the day.

My buddy Rachel Manzer worked at CAMSPAC about five years ago. She really loved that billet, but she got out soon after her daughter was born, and she and her husband moved to Maine. It was always fun to get into Coastie Talk with her around because she was the best of both worlds-- able to hold her own against anyone else at the table and taught me a lot about just what it is that a good military wife should be and how to really support him in his duties. I still call her when I need to get some good information and she helps me know what I can ask and how to ask it without overstepping my boundaries. :)
