New Work Experience!

Hello again, everyone! For the past week I've been settling down at CAMSPAC, and it's been quite a ride so far. For example, as of right now, I'm waiting for a locksmith to come to the base and unlock my car for me since I locked my keys in the car. For the first time ever.

*pause*

But, in the meantime, work. I'm still in "Check-In" mode, getting to know the area and people and the general lay of the land and expectations. Next week I'll be dayworking and getting ready for my training, and then I begin training watches on Monday the 18th. I'll be doing two on, two off, with sliding weekends until I get trained, which should be in about two to three months. This is a pretty unique unit... it's rather different than anything I've done in the Coast Guard so far. Let me see...

* I started out as a deckhand on the EAGLE, sailing in a tall ship,
* Then I stood radio watches and managed classified material for the CONFIDENCE,
* Next was a Search And Rescue controller in Corpus Christi,
* Followed by my six year instructor and class advisor stint at TRACEN Petaluma,
* And now, I'm a Communications Watch Officer for CAMSPAC, ensuring broadcasts and messages are transmitted and recieved throughout Coast Guard's fleet on the West Coast.

I'm really looking forward to standing watches again, actually. 12 hours on, 12 hours off, with some days off in between is fine with me! :> My day to day routine is going to have to change, of course, but I'm a flexible guy.

car, work
