Tomoka was wandering around the courtyard for some fresh air. It was the first time in a while she was able to think clearly and feel safe on campus. The onsen trip had really done her a lot of good, along with clearing things up with Horio and her other vampiric friends again. However there was still one matter unrelated to that she needed to take care of. After slapping some sense into An, quite literally, she had convinced the girl to give up on that Shishido. However it still didn't feel like enough, after all the best way to forget your first love and broken heart was a new romance, wasn't it?
And just her luck... she spotted the one perfect candidate a little across the way. She knew Kaidoh had liked An from the moment they met and after talking with her friend and setting them up a little shamelessly sometimes on the trip she could tell the feeling was mutual. The only issue was he had to make the first move as An was still definitely too stubborn about it. Maybe with a little encouragement he would~
Kaidoh, at the moment, was struggling to re-tie Aki's bandanna around his neck. Ever since he'd given it to the dog, it had stayed there, but he'd taken it off to wash it. It had occurred to him to just take it back, but it wasn't like it was one of his favorites....and An thought it was really cute on the growing puppy. So with one hand he was trying to hold the squirming dog on his leash, and tie the cloth back around his neck.
He was blissfully unaware of the ambush about to be unleashed upon him.
"Ka-i-do-h-s-a-n~!" Tomoka cried as she hugged him from behind and gave him a nice squeeze for fun. She let go a little after and knelt down to say hello to Aki afterward and scratched behind his ears so he's stop squirming. It worked as the dog's tail wagged happily for the attention. "How are you today?" she grinned, turning to Kaidoh; it was clear she had an ulterior motive for showing up there.
"Fssssssshhhhhh...." He hissed under his breath, after near shrieking from the shock. His face reddened across his cheeks, but he did his best to be polite. Osakada was a bit much to be around, but she was one of An's friends, and nice enough if you overlooked her boisterous behaviour.
"What do you want?"
"I just wanted to see how you were doing of course, why else would I be here~?" she chimed innocently. There was no need to rush things, yet. Though she had to hold back from giggling at his blush. If he was already red just from her surprise attack it would be fun when she got down to the real thing.
"....I thought you might be here to see Aki," he suggested, using the dogs distraction with her to finish attaching the bandanna.
"Well I do love Aki~" she smiled, petting the dog affectionately. "But I did come to check up on you, looks like you and Aki are getting along well though; and you match too." Tomoka giggled, glad he took the chance to finish with the bandanna. It surprisingly suited the dog pretty well; made her wonder about how An saw Kaidoh but that would be for another ocassion...
He blinked up at her, and stood back up, stuffing his hands into his pockets. "Check on me, Osakada-san? What for?"
"I told you Tomo-chan is fine, silly." she sighed, and flicked him in the forehead lightly as he stood back up. "Because I wanted to see how you were doing after the onsen trip since I've hardly gotten a chance to speak with you, of course."
"...Osakada-chan," he compromised, nodding and rubbing his forehead where she'd flicked him. "I saw you when we got back. When you were hitting Sengoku-senpai in the head with your slipper..."
Oh well, it was better than -san at least, though she'd get him to call her by her name eventually. "You saw me but I didn't see you and we didn't talk either so there." she replied still grinning. "So, how are things?"
"Fine," he answered. "An-chan was busy so I'm taking Aki out for a walk to tire him out some." The puppy wound around his legs and back, jumping up to lick at Tomo's hand.
"Well that's nice of you~" She waved her hand around a bit so Aki would stop licking it for a moment while she tried to get to the good part. "So... you've been getting along well with An lately, huh?"
Kaidoh couldn't help the blush that brightened his face again. "Uh...what do you mean? We're friends...."
"Oh? Just friends huh? That's too bad..." She tried not to laugh again at the instant blush after she mentioned An's name.
"Wh--too bad? What are you talking about?" He had no idea where she was going with this.
"Well it's just that you two are so cute together and all." She was still hoping she wouldn't have to do all the kicking in the right direction for him. "And she said how much fun it was spending time with you there and seeing you at practice and all. Now that she's finally over that stupid Shishido I just thought, you know~"
"No, I don't know," he frowned at her, pink still staining his cheeks. "We're friends. I...I told her I liked her before, but she doesn't feel that way about me." It was humiliating to admit, but he wasn't going to take Tomo's word for anything when he knew An didn't like him back like that.
"Oh? And when was that?" Hm... this would be a lot harder if he had lost all confidence after that.
"None of your business," he hissed, uncomfortable with her probing.
"Ne, Kaidoh-san..." she sighed and pat him on the arm. "Just because you fell down once doesn't mean you should give up." Tomoka smiled and leaned in a little to add in a quiet voice, "You know, she really likes you back but is probably afraid to go out with someone after what happened with Shishido..."
"Wha--Sh..she told you that?" His expression was at once hopeful and disbelieving, staring down at her. "Really? No she didn't...did she?"
"Yep, she did~" Tomoka grinned, glad to finally have his attention down. That hopeful look relieved her that he hadn't given up completely, which was good. "And she always mentioned you as the one who was friendliest to her and there whenever she was feeling down about things." Of course she was playing around with her words a bit but it was truth; just a little stretched~
Kaidoh rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly, both happy and embarrassed to hear that. "I try..."
"So... still going to just give up?" Oh how she had to struggle not to laugh at how obvious his crush was. But it made her happy he still had such strong feelings for her; he just needed the right push.
"I don't want to push," he mumbled, looking askance. "After what Shishido-san did....doesn't she need time?"
"Wasn't the onsen trip time enough? I know she seems relaxed enough after and hasn't mentioned him at all since." Of course in Tomoka's mind it was still best to act fast than wait around. Sure An was over Shishido but that didn't mean other guys wouldn't try. "You don't want someone trying to steal her away with Valentine's coming up and all... do you?"
That made him hiss in annoyance. He didn't like the idea of anyone else asking An out. But as much as he wanted to be with her, he didn't know how well he'd do with another rejection. Just being around her was hard sometimes, because he had to hold back so as not to push his feelings on her.
"I don't know," he said finally. "She probably still just thinks of me as a friend. I don't wanna mess that up..." Aki licked at his fingers and he crouched down to pet the dog.
Well, she couldn't blame him for being a bit hessitant after being rejected once. "Why not try taking her out of a date then?" she suggested. It wasn't as if they had to be a couple to go on a date or confess to one another; just see how well they could go out with one another. Tomoka was positive the chemistry was there especially since they both liked each other.
"You think she would want to?" he asked, concentrating on petting AKi.
"I don't see why not~" Tomoka grinned, kneeling down to pet Aki too so she was at eye level with Kaidoh again.
"......I'll think about it," he mumbled after a long moment.
"I'm rooting for you~" she giggled, patting both him and Aki on the head and then standing back up. "Well, if you need any date advice you know where to find me." Tomoka winked, confident he wouldn't back down now that he knew there was that chance for him. She was sure the closer it got to Valentine's the more he'd consider it too. He definitely didn't seem like the type who wanted his girl stolen away~
