Authors comments: Save it for the fangirls Yuushi~!
Shishido leaned against the wall just inside the library. He felt like he’d been here more times in the past month than he had been to his other school’s library in the two years he’d been there. At least right now, it wasn’t for studying. No, this would be a nice quiet place to meet Yuushi at. Even if the crazy fans the night class seemed to collect followed him here, they’d be forced to keep quiet due to library policy.
Also, if Yuushi needed to get a book or access the internet to try and prove his lame point about fencing not being poncy and frill based then they wouldn’t have to go anywhere for it.
He looked at his watch and wondered just how long it took a guy to walk from the night class dorms, through a throng of obsessed weirdos and to the library. He was getting bored.
"Ryou-kun~" Yuushi murmured into the brunette's ear, sliding up beside him as he was distracted. Slipping his fans had been easy enough. Especially after throwing one of his night class brethren to them, like a ball of yarn to an army of kittens. All for this one meeting with this very interesting human. It proved to keep him entertained, at least.
"Did you miss me?"
Shishido jumped slightly at the sudden appearance of Yuushi but tried to act like he didn’t. “Tch, don’t be lame. I can’t miss you if I’ve never met you properly.” He adjusted his day class uniform as he straightened. And no, he wasn’t at all jealous that the night class uniform was slightly cooler in the reverse colours. And he definitely wasn’t giving Yuushi a quick once over in it. He then looked around to make sure that nobody was about to start squealing at Yuushi’s feet or something equally as uncool.
“Okay, so how are you gonna prove to me that fencing is a manly sport or whatever?”
The telepath just couldn't help himself. As a treat, he dipped just a bit into Shishido's surface thoughts. Checking him out already...that was interesting. His smile broadened a bit. Maybe he posed a bit for good measure.
"Well, to do that you'll have to come with me."
“What? Why? Can’t you prove it here?” Shishido asked gesturing to the library. It was the perfect place to prove facts. He could easily reference all of the frilly fencing in France here. And did Yuushi have to smile and pose at him like he was some easily won over idiot girl?
Being careful not to laugh when he caught that thought, Yuushi relaxed and acted normally. "Not with these books. You should really stop reading about the French. Now the Spaniards, they were swordsmen..." Still, he was leading Shishido away, gesturing for him to follow.
“Yeah, but their history isn’t nearly as cool as France’s,” Shishido pointed out, forced to follow Yuushi as he walked away. “And a fencing foil can barely be counted as a sword. It’s like a stick with a pointy end.” He fell into step beside Yuushi, ready to scowl at any girl that would try to approach them. They had less than two hours and Shishido didn’t want to get halfway through into why Yuushi’s opinion was so incredibly wrong just to be forced to go back to his room. It would be horribly uncool.
"If you're going to get into what is a better sword, nothing tops a katana," Yuushi commented as they went, leaving the library. "Its they way the blade is forged. Western swords create too much resistance to cut well, so on the whole they merely were used to crush bones and such in battle. Did you know the blade from a disposable razor is a hundred times sharper than the sharpest katana?"
“That’s a really random fact. And isn’t helping your case for foils and stuff at all,” Shishido pointed out wondering just how this was supposed to convince him that fencing was not a pansy sport. But at least Yuushi could recognize the awesome skills of their ancestors in crafting the finest, and if he dared to say it, sexiest, of all sword-type weapons in the world.
"But it is distracting you until I could get you here," Yuushi smirked, turning them into a more secluded spot where he'd put his and Kenya's swords. His cousin must have decided to nap or got caught up in something since he wasn't around. He did have his foil here, but he also had Kenya's lethal looking swords.
“Oh,” Shishido said rather stupidly as he looked at the clearing and then at the swords. “Well... that’s just unfair and sneaky.” But just because he was here, still didn’t mean he had to agree to duel the guy. Though it would be a lot harder to convince Yuushi that he just didn’t want to because he thought fencing was lame and not because he was a imp who didn’t want to try it in person. Crap, he just knew he’d end up with a lame foil in his hand and prancing around the open space before curfew.
"Hm? I thought I would give you a lesson. Unless you'd prefer a demonstration," Yuushi told him, hefting up Kenya's favorite sword.
Shishido’s eyes focused on the sword in Yuushi’s hands. While he’d done basic kendo in gym class he was by no means an accomplished swordsmen or samurai and was happy that Yuushi wasn’t suggesting a full on duel. “Not seeing how that’s going to convince me that fencing isn’t the lamest form of sword fighting,” Shishido said as he poked at another sword’s pommel with his toe.
“Maybe it will give you some sort of appreciation for it." Yuushi felt the weight of the sword hilt in his hand and ran through a quick flurry of moves, the tip of the blade coming just a couple of centimeters from Shishido's nose.
Shishido gasped and took a half step back at the sudden appearance of the metallic object pointed at his noise He went partially cross eyed as he looked down at it and then along the length up to Yuushi’s face. “Okay, that was sort of cool,” He reluctantly admitted.
"Mm...I'm a bit off. This sword is better balanced for Kenya, not me." Drawing away, Yuushi picked up another sword, offering it. "Lesson, Ryou-chan?"
“That was off? Geeze, should I be happy I still have a nose?” He asked. Looking at the offered sword his hand moved over it and then paused. “If I do this, you’ll have to play wii with me. No complaints.” And what was with the ‘chan’?
"No complaints. That was the deal after all, Ryou-chan." Yuushi smirked.
Shishido took the sword from Yuushi and adjusted it in his grip as he got used to the feel of it. “Good. And will you stop with the chan. I’m not some girl,” And as he said that he knew that he probably played right into Yuushi’s hands who was probably saying it just to annoy him. He almost sort of sympathized with Sanada... but not really.
"You don't have to be," the telepath told him. "You're cute, though."
“Are we back on that again?” Shishido asked with a roll of his eyes. “I’m not cute. Now teach me how to stab you with this thing.” He swooped the sword down in a rather graceless arc and then swished it around a bit.
To which Yuushi parried and blocked him easily, stepping into Shishido's frame to slide an arm around his waist and smirk. "If you're going to stab me, you might not want to swing the blade around like a baseball bat."
Shishido frowned down at his sword where it was touching Yuushi’s. “I wasn’t trying to stab you yet,” He pointed out and then used his free hand to push Yuushi’s chest to get him out of his personal space. “And how should I swing it?” He looked at how Yuushi was holding his sword and tried to copy it but his own sword felt unstable and he nearly dropped it before getting a better grip on it.
"You took Kendo. So you should know the basics on how to hold it to defend yourself." Yuushi stepped back, lifting his sword and lunging for him.
“What?” Shishido yelped, in quite a manly fashion. He only just managed to bring his sword up to half block Yuushi’s sword. The movement causing him to stumble back and nearly fall. “A little warning next time... idiot.” Yuushi seriously needed to work on his teaching techniques.
Catching Shishido by the elbow, Yuushi tugged him back onto his feet. "I was just gauging your reaction time. Its not bad."
“Not bad? My reaction time is amazing. Honed by numerous and various reaction testing video games,” Shishido corrected. He shrugged off Yuushi’s hand on his elbow and got into a battle stance, noticing it was quite different from what he’d seen of Yuushi’s. Stupid poncy sword fighting.
"Amazing would have been to block me completely, or dodge." The telepath stepped away again, back to Shishido, curious if the other would try anything.
“Well?” Shishido asked, tapping his foot and swinging the sword a bit impatiently. Are you going to teach me something or just stand there like a stupid practice dummy?” Shishido asked, half tempted to try and stab Yuushi in the back and see how his reflexes were... But he thought that might be a little unsportsman like. Still tempting.
"I'm considering." How cute you are when you're being noble, Yuushi finished in his head. Turning he went through a simple series of steps, patiently showing Shishido how to thrust and parry with a sword.
Shishido paid attention to what Yuushi was showing him, and when not actively trying to stab him and actually teaching, Yuushi did a pretty good job at sharing his knowledge. “Okay, I think I’m ready for a small practice fight,” Shishido said after he’d finish another set of fake parrying and thrusting with himself. “Just, take it easy on me.”
"I'll stand here then," Yuushi told him, standing with his sword pointed down. He looked casual and unassuming; an easy target. "Don't be shy now. Give me your best shot, Ryou-kun," he smiled a little, tossing his hair out of his eyes.
“Shy? Exactly what about me makes you think I’m shy?” Shishido asked just barely reining in an urge to eyeroll. It wouldn’t do to take his eyes off Yuushi in a duel, even if it was just a little practice one. He took in Yuushi’s stance, and with his limited real life sword practice and way too many hours logged on virtual fights, tried to take in the best way of attack.
He rushed at Yuushi full on and slightly to the left, hoping that his open side would be less defended and went in for a thrust like he was taught. He just wish his sword felt sturdier.
Without even moving his body, Yuushi blocked him so quckly Shishido was knocked off balance, sword falling from his hand. "Not bad," he commented. "You're lunging too far though. If you start it when you're closer, you won't be tipping far enough to be knocked over. If I'd moved you would have fallen forward on your face."
Shishido grabbed his sword and righted himself with a huff. “Would it kill you to at least make it look like blocking me took some effort?” He asked as he practiced a few thrusting movements in the air before turning back to Yuushi and making a second attempt at it, this time trying to contain his lunge so he wouldn’t over balance or be as easily read.
The vampire blocked him again, turning to the side so that when Shishido lost his sword he tumbled forward, right into his arms. "Better," he smiled. "That took more effort than before."
“Only because you had to catch me this time,” Shishido pointed out and looked at his fallen sword. Maybe he just needed to learn to grip the thing better so it actually stayed in his hand. “So, what’s your advice for this time?” He asked giving Yuushi’s arm a pat as a thanks for catching him before stepping back to get his sword again.
"And I thought catching you was a perk," the vampire chuckled. "My advice? Worry about your speed once you can make your moves without thinking. You're coming at me fast, but sloppy." This time he'd give him a workout and let him come at him until he tired.
“Don’t be lame. And if I go slow, won’t you see me coming a mile away?” Shishido asked as he took a few more steps back and raised his sword. He double checked his grip on it and gave it a few testing swings. It felt solid enough in his hands even if the lightness of the fencing sword still made him feel like he was swinging around some plastic toy.
Shishido supposed that if Yuushi was encouraging form over speed he’d have to trust him not to take advantage and made to move at Yuushi again. He moved more carefully and focused on his technique. He was sure his moves were so obvious that Yuushi could close his eyes and still see it but thankfully Yuushi didn’t immediately disarm him and instead helped them get a slow rhythm going of thrusting and parrying.
His actions were slow and a little shaky but he managed to keep it going for a while until one strong parry from Yuushi caused his blade to go flying and he stumbled in his steps. Damn.
"You learn fast." Yuushi bent over to retrieve the sword. If Shishido applied some time to swordsmanship he would be good. Yuushi himself wasn't as quick to learn it when he'd started. Kenya had been able to disarm him for well over a year before he'd studied hard enough to beat him. "If you're interested, Kenya and I could teach you more."
Shishido’s eyes followed Yuushi’s movements as he bent over to grab the sword and couldn’t help but appreciate the view and the graceful way the other moved. Something he’d noticed while they were sparring, if you could call the mock beginners duel that. “Maybe. Might be worth it just so I can learn to kick your ass properly.”
Flopping down to sit on the grass, Shishido was surprised to note that he was actually breathing fairly hard and had worked up a small sweat. He was even more surprised to find himself tempted by the offer. Fencing might have been popular by poncy Frenchmen but it was actually pretty fun. That, and despite the repeated beat down he found himself smiling at the small compliment.
"You certainly have the potential," Yuushi agreed, expertly eyeing both swords before setting them aside to sit next to the human. "How does your arm feel? Kenya used to disarm me so hard it would ache for a whole day."
“Huh?” Shishido asked as he held out his right arm and then moved it around. It didn’t feel too bad, just heavy and tired from using muscles in a way that he normally didn’t, even with swimming. “Not so bad right now. Might hurt in the morning but I’m used to it.” He wouldn’t have survived swim camps if he couldn’t handle a few aches and pains from overworked muscles. “You know, next time, you should think about bringing some water. Aren’t you thirsty?” He could definitely go for some water or juice or preferably one of those ridiculously coloured sports drinks.
"I'm fine," Yuushi waved his question off. "But since you want there to be a next time, I'll keep that in mind for you." He leaned a little closer. "How often would you like lessons, Ryou-kun?"
“Wait, what? When did I say I want a next time?” Shishido asked. “Don’t go making lame assumptions here.” He poked Yuushi in the shoulder to emphasize his point.
"Of course there will be a next time," Yuushi smiled, ignoring the poke. "If you'd rather not admit that you're interested in it, you don't have to. All you have to do is show up. It would be a shame to let that kind of potential go to waste."
“Ugh, you are so annoying sometimes,” Shishido said dramatically before flopping back so he was lying on the grass. “And fine. Never could resist a challenge. When do you want to do this?”
"I can work around your schedule, if you like. I don't have much going on at the moment. And I'm sure Kenya would like to teach you as well."
“You make me sound like some weird Oshitari cousin pet project,” Shishido pointed out as he wondered just when teaching him fencing became a popular past time. “I guess I can wake up early once or twice a week.” It would cut down on crazy fan encounters and he wouldn’t have to worry about fencing interfering with his club activities or study sessions. He’d have to stock up on energy drinks for those mornings though.
"We promise to give you enough time to shower before class," Yuushi smirked, dropping down onto his elbow to lean closer to the brunette.
Shishido chuckled at that as he looked over at Yuushi, “You trying to tell me I smell right now?” He did plan on heading to the pool after so he didn’t really care if he did. And in the morning, since Yuushi had a 7am curfew that left him plenty of time to shower before class.
"I wouldn't want you to worry about being sweaty," the vampire chuckled. "You smell fine to me..." He leaned a little further to take a dramatic sniff of the human. "Good, in fact."
“Not worried. And glad I meet your nose’s approval,” Shishido said and couldn’t resist taping his finger against it. “And do you still smell daisy fresh after your challenging spar against me?” He leaned up slightly to give Yuushi a quick sniff. “Well, you don’t smell like daisies, but you smell good enough to me.” He’d probably be disturbed if Yuushi had in fact smelt like daisies. Guys should not smell like flowers.
"You should smell me after Kenya's through with me," Yuushi laughed, dropping his chin into his hand, looking down at Shishido.
“Ugh, pass. But maybe you two should put on a show for me.” Yeah, he’d admit that fencing was more fun than he thought it would be. But with his beginner moves, it hardly looked impressive. But if Kenya and Yuushi were as good as they sounded, it would probably be pretty cool to watch them go at it. Assuming they didn’t go in for frills or those stupid white suits and face masks.
"I could be up for that...I doubt Kenya would mind. He's been bored lately. And not to worry," he patted Shishido on the head. "We don't wear the regulation gear or face masks when we practice. I promise to make it look cool for you, Ryou-kun."
“You better. And stop petting me like a dog,” Shishido complained as he swatted Yuushi’s hand away. “And if you two had a wii like any normal teen then you wouldn’t be as bored as often.” He’d have to figure out a common area to set his up at. All these lame day and night class rules were such a pain.
"And do I get a lesson on this Wii of yours like we agreed?" Yuushi asked.
“I know what the deal is. But you’ll probably have to play with me more than once to get a real feel for it.” With all the different types of games it would be unfair to just introduce Yuushi to one or two types. Fortunately for the Oshitari cousins, Shishido had a pretty decent collection of games.
"Mm, so a lesson for a lesson. What will you teach me first, Shishido-sensei?" Yuushi teased.
“Don't know yet... Do you know any types of games?" Even if it was just from a commercial or something if it had caught Yuushi's interest he'd be happy to start with that.
"Not really. But I like games with strategy," Yuushi commented, rolling a bit to lay his head on Shishido's stomach comfortably. "Do you have any games like that?"
“Am I your pillow now?” Shishido questioned but didn’t push Yuushi off of him. Instead, he started to toy with some of the midnight blue strands of Yuushi’s hair, curious about the colour. “And if you like strategy, you’d probably like the PS3 more... but I’m sure I can find something you’ll like on the wii.” He was already running through potential candidates in his head.
"I'm yours to teach," Yuushi murmured, shutting his eyes at the feel of Shishido's fingers moving in his hair. Mm...promising. It seemed the human didn't have any issues with personal space.
“Cool,” Shishido murmured and then tugged gently at the hair in his hand. “Is this your natural colour?” There was just a little too much blue in the black for him to believe it was completely natural but then some people just had weird genetics.
"Would you like me to prove that it is?" Yuushi smirked, not bothering to open his eyes. The pain of being an Oshitari...they always questioned the hair color.
“Gonna show me that the drapes match the carpet or whatever?” Shishido asked. “Pass.” There were some things he didn’t need to see in the middle of the school grounds. He shifted under Yuushi’s weight, he swore there was a stick or something digging into him.
“Exactly how long are you planning on staying there?”
The vampire chuckled at that. "I promise you that the color is real, then." He didn’t move so much as he wound an arm around Shishido's waist, picking out the twig from under his back and flicking it away. "I plan to stay as long as you let me," he murmured, shutting his eyes again and just barely nuzzling the other's stomach.
“And now I’m your cuddle toy. Great,” Shishido grumbled. At least Yuushi had somehow figured out his squirming was due to that stick and got rid of it. He spared a second to glare at the offending piece of wood before stretching his arms up and then under his head. “You better not fall asleep on me. That’d be completely lame.”
"I've never claimed to be otherwise," Yuushi smiled, perfectly happy to doze on him for now. He was comfortable, and had a tendency to nap a bit when he was.
“Hey! I’m serious. Don’t fall asleep on me!” Shishido complained as he noticed what Yuushi was doing. He unfolded an arm and gave Yuushi’s shoulder a gentle push. “You fall asleep, then I’ll fall asleep and then I’ll get in crap for missing curfew.” And wouldn’t that be awkward to explain. ‘Oh sorry I missed curfew, I was having a nap with Yuushi.’ So not going to happen.
"You'll have to keep me awake then," the telepath told him, cracking open an eye to look at him.
“And now I have to entertain you? You’re hard work.” Shishido wondered how he could keep him awake. Jokes? Stories? Word puzzles? Poking him in the ribs repeatedly? Well, he certainly had options even if Yuushi refused to move.
Laughing softly at all the silly ideas running through Shishido's head, Yuushi inched up his stomach to rest on his chest. "You could always kiss me," he smirked, teasing.
“And now you’re suddenly easy,” Shishido pointed out not at all sure what he was actually supposed to do in this situation but trying to act cool and nonchalant. Was Yuushi serious? Joking? Looking for a reason to actually stab him with a rapier? Was there a school rule he could fall back on so he didn’t have to make up his own mind on this? Did he want to push Yuushi off of him and be offended? Or did he want to take Yuushi up on the offer and find out if kissing a guy was that different from kissing a girl?
"Or you're just that interesting to me," Yuushi countered, entirely amused at how much Shishido rambled on in his own mind about one little comment. "Have you only ever kissed girls before? I don't object to a little experimenting.."
Shishido wanted to brag about being awesome and of course he was interesting but frowned at Yuushi’s question instead. “None of your business who I’ve kissed before.” And he hoped like hell he wasn’t blushing. He completely blamed Yuushi on being so damn confusing and forward.
"Its not like I asked who," the vampire replied. And just because Shishido was so cute when he blushed like that, he dropped a kiss onto his chest playfully. "You can still kiss me though, if you want."
Shishido blinked down at Yuushi and then considered his options. “Fine. Might as well,” He said with a shrug. It’s not like Yuushi was hard on the eyes and a little experimenting never hurt anyone. He moved a hand to the side of Yuushi’s face and then slid down to his neck trying to urge him up to his lips.
"How romantic," The telepath smiled, sliding up Shishido's body to press their lips together.
Shishido kept the kiss chaste at first, curious to see how different it was to kissing a girl. Deciding it wasn’t that different and feeling emboldened by it, he increased the pressure of his lips against Yuushi’s. His tongue slowly flicked out against Yuushi’s lips, testing the other man’s reactions.
Yuushi let him explore a bit, not wanting to alarm him right away. Shishido definitely wasn’t a beginner at this, so he assumed the brunette had had some girlfriends before at least. Subtly, he kissed back, gradually more until he was the one controlling the fusion of their mouths. Tangling their tongues together, he kissed Shishido deeper, careful to keep control lest the other feel his fangs.
Shishido battled against Yuushi’s tongue with his own for a moment before conceding control of the kiss to him. It didn’t matter to him, not when Yuushi was showing to be such a good kisser. He moved his hand back into Yuushi’s hair to encourage him and to keep their mouths pressed together as he rested his head back on the ground. He wasn’t quite as confident with his other hand at first ghosting over Yuushi’s hip before settling onto his back and then pulling away again to land on his side before barely touching the side of Yuushi’s thigh.
Thinking it was cute, Yuushi moved his own hand, sliding it over one of Shishido's and wrapping their fingers together. With the other, he ran fingers through short brown hair, his thumb stroking Shishido's cheek as he kept kissing him.
Happy to have something to do with his hand, Shishido gave Yuushi’s a small squeeze. He then broke the kiss to properly catch his breath for a moment and to take in what he was doing. “Wow,” Escaped his lips as they finally parted from Yuushi’s. This experiment would definitely have to go down as a success. Looking up at Yuushi he grinned, he looked amazing with kiss swollen lips. In fact, it made him want to kiss the other man again.
"You're very wow worthy yourself," Yuushi murmured, licking Shishido's lips slowly before pressing their mouths together again. If this was how lessons were going to end, he was going to have to jockey for one everyday.
Shishido smiled against Yuushi’s lips as the kiss restarted at the compliment. He sunk back into the kiss, fingers toying with Yuushi’s hair and drawing his tongue into his mouth to tease before giving control of the kiss back to Yuushi. He would have been content to kiss like this for hours when the loud chorus of Tik Tok started. He pulled back from Yuushi’s lips with a curse. “Shit. My phone,” He muttered trying to dig in his pocket for his phone. A task made difficult by Yuushi sprawled on him and still having hold of one of his hands. Stupid phone.
Moving for him, the telepaths lips twitched up, listening. "What a cute song," he commented, watching Shishido scrabble for the phone.
“Is everything cute to you?” Shishido asked as he sat up. He pulled out his phone and turned the song off and sighed at the time. “I need to head back. That was my alarm to remind me about curfew.” It was something he set up on his first day here in the vow to be a good student at his new school. He tucked his phone away and reached his hands up to stretch out his arms and back. The kissing had been fun but next time they needed to find somewhere more comfortable for it. Or maybe Yuushi could play the pillow for him... If there was a next time. He wasn’t really sure on the rules for random experimentation with a friend.
He stood and held out a hand for Yuushi to take to help him up too. “Come on, you probably need to get these back to Kenya before class starts for you.”
Ah. How cold. Yuushi thought when Shishido got up and talked about curfew.
Ah. How sweet. He thought a moment later when the human offered him a hand. He took it, standing up, and then used the grip on Shishido's hand to yank him close and give him one last, devastating kiss. "Thank you for your company," he murmured in a silken voice to him when he finally broke away.
“Yeah, no problem,” Shishido said, left slightly off balance by that last kiss. Yuushi had been holding out on him if that kiss was anything to go by. “I think I definitely need that shower now.” He started brushing stray bits of dirt and leaves from his uniform and hair when he thought of another reason why he might need a shower and this time felt himself blushing slightly. So not smooth. “Err right, so I gotta go, but we’ll make plans for later.” They had more fencing lessons to schedule, and he couldn’t believe he was somehow talked into that, along with wii and maybe if he was lucky some more experimenting. If science class experiments were half as fun he wouldn’t need Inui to tutor him.
"Ryou-kun," Yuushi called before Shishido had gotten too far. When the brunette turned back, he gave him a very satisfied smile, standing hipshot with his hands tucked into his pockets.
"Sweet dreams."
Shishido turned back and gave a small chuckle as he gave Yuushi a blatant once over. “Will do, but not about you posing like that.” Somehow, Yuushi was hotter looking when he was beating him down with a pansy sword than actually trying to do a sexy pose. His fanclub would probably appreciate it. He thought for a brief moment about bringing a camera and selling photos of Yuushi to them to make a quick buck but dismissed it. Yuushi would probably want in on the profits.
“Anyway, gonna be late soon. Have fun in class!”
