What: Eiji and Tomoka have an interesting scheme...
Authors comments: Omg these two are going to be sooo much trouble. XD
The common area on the first floor; it had become their regular meeting place. When it was time for curfew to set in no one ever passed through the first floor as there was nowhere to go. Tomoka waited patiently at a table, swinging her legs to and fro idly as she glanced from her notebook to the clock repeatedly. And here the boy said he wouldn’t keep her waiting; oh well~ It was Eiji after all so she could forgive him. Ever since she met the redhead things had become quite a bit more fun at the academy, not that they weren’t already. However she didn’t want to have to cling to Sakuno for everything and she was already having good luck meeting interesting new people. (Namely all the boys!) Not that Tomoka was looking for anything special yet, her first plan of course was to set up her dear friend before she worried about herself. Besides, there was a pile of schoolwork she would be buried under for at least another week. If it weren’t for the help from her friend yet again no doubt she would never be able to fully catch up.
Today she was meeting up with Eiji to kill two birds with one stone; take care of some work on her own with the boy, help him out as well; and also to get to know him better. After all the boy said he had a proposition for her the first time they had hung out. No way the pigtailed girl was letting something pass her by, knowing Eiji so far it had to be something juicy~
Eiji was.... running late. Not even just a little late, but a lot late. Grumbling under his breath he glared at the watch on his wrist, willing the elevator to move faster. When at last the bell chimed announcing the lift’s arrival at the first floor, the redhead bounded out, looking from left to right before quickly making his way to the commons area.
“Tomo-chaaaaan~!” Eiji pouted, at long last flopping down on the opposite side of the table from her. “I’m so sorry-nya. This day will be the end of me, I’m telling you. Forgive me?” he begged, batting his sapphire eyes in her direction. This always seemed to work with his family, so it should do the trick here as well.
The boy was beyond dramatic; to anyone but her anyway, she was used to it as she acted with equally as much theatrics as the boy begging forgiveness before her. She smiled and leaned back in the chair slightly. “Of course, I’d always forgive you Eiji... so long as you have a good explanation.” Tomoka teased while crossing her arms, she wouldn’t be taken so easily by those batted eyes of his. After all she was an older sister herself, she had built up an immunity toward boys trying to be cute with her.
Fail... “The... elevator?” he suggested, looking back the way he had come. Still, the elevator didn’t make him twenty minutes late. “I’m really really sorry-nyo. I got caught up playing this new game that my brother gave me just before I came here. It’s really really addictive and before I knew it the time had flown by...” It was a lame excuse, he knew. But it was also the truth, and that had to count for something.... right?
“Well. What matters now is that I’m here, don’t ya think?” he asked, dragging a pair of books from his bag and letting them slap onto the table.
Tomoka would normally have a few good words for the boy standing her up over a video game of all things. But-- actions always spoke better than words. The girl smiled sweetly to him and nodded in understanding of his explanation. Then, slowly, she grabbed for her notebook and knocked him upside the head with a resounding *smack*.
“I warned you to not keep a girl waiting~” was all she had to say for the strike.
Eiji hadn’t had enough time to duck out of the notebook’s path, the paper rapping him hard on the head. “M-mean!” the redhead whined, rubbing his injured skull, his hair sticking up in an even odder way than normal. “So cruel... after I was honest with you and everything!”
Continuing to pout, Eiji pulled out his own notebook, containing his half finished homework. “Can we get started before you hit me again...?”
“Yes, we can.” Tomoka smiled again, content that the boy seemed to get the message. She wouldn’t apologize as he deserved it but she was happy he had been truthful with her. Fixing her notebook, she flipped it open to her homework and pulled out the loose notes Sakuno was amazing enough to lend her.
“Where did you want to get started?” she asked as she had a feeling he had more to do than she did. In her time waiting she had actually resorted to working some of the problems out on her own. (Another reason she had been so testy.)
“The discussion questions on that play...?” he suggested, flipping through his own notebook until the page with the questions scribbled upon it stared up at him. “To be honest, I didn’t understand the play at all-nya. So I’m kinda at a loss.” Though Eiji did love to read, if he found no interest in a subject it typically failed to hold his attention. Sadly, this play had fallen in the ‘uninteresting’ category.
“Any pointers?”
“Ah, those...” Tomoka felt the boy’s pain. She had not wanted to pay much attention to it either, it was a total snooze-fest to the girl. It was so boring with some strange plot that was so abstract you’d have to be a lit nut or brainiac to really care. “Yeah, I didn’t get it much either... Sakuno wrote some cliffnotes though and somehow it all made sense. Don’t know why it wasn’t just written like this so you know, normal people could actually decipher it.” she laughed, pulling out the paper for reference and passed it over to the redhead.
Skimming the notes, the redheads hand flew across his own notebook, copying line after line down. Thank God for Ryuuzaki Sakuno. Without her he would no doubt flunk his English class. “But... the actual play.... was nothing like this. Was it?” he asked, almost stunned as he sat back and reread everything he had copied. Surprisingly enough, Tomoka was completely correct - it made perfect sense....
In no time the two had all but finished up the homework and even managed to actually study. That was saying quite a bit compared to the amount the two originally started with. Of course it was mostly thanks to the notes but they had managed to work out quite a bit on their own.
“Ah~ No more, my brain can’t take it!” Tomoka whined, closing the books and collapsing on the table.
Eiji was way ahead of her, slumped in exhaustion over his open notebook. Surely they had earned the rest? Four completed homework assignments, and on top of that the pair had reviewed the latest chapter in their science book. After all... there was only so much you could ask of them. “Me too. Feels like my brain’s had a full body workout-nyo...”
Lifting himself so that his chin rested in his hands, the redhead glanced over at Tomoka. “Now... for the main event. I’ve got the. Best. Idea. Ever.”
Tomoka immediately sprung up and back to life at his words. She had been waiting for this. “Do tell~” she chimed, leaning forward eagerly in anticipation.
Grinning from earn to ear, Eiji leaned forward conspiratorially. “You’ve noticed how the Day Class... girls in particular, are basically gaga over the Night class, ne?” he asked, pausing to allow a reaction, though continuing a moment later. “Well... I figured out a way to use that to our advantage-nya.”
Reaching into his bag, Eiji withdrew a basic map of campus, traced directly from the Eclipse brochure. Written by the buildings were their names, and at various intervals throughout the map were placed time tables with initials by them. “We’re going to sneak out. I figure that the Night Class must be working on something really awesome - or have better privileges or something.... I mean, why else can’t we go outside at night? And we can look into that - maybe even check out their dorms. But! More importantly. I have an idea of how to make a profit off of it-nya.”
Tomoka nodded with each statement and slowly a grand smile crept up on her face. Oh but this was just too good! She could have never imagined the boy would propose something just up her alley. Not only that but it was investigation on the Night Class of all things!
“Eiji, I think I love you~” she teased, eyeing the map with a far too amused expression and motioning for him to continue.
Flushing as bright as his hair, Eiji tried to brush off the comment. “Yeah yeah, everyone does. You don’t have to keep saying it-nya.” Pulling the map to the center of the table, Eiji continued his explanation. “So, I’m thinking we could take candid shots of the Night Class. Nothing too special, but enough. Make copies, and sell them to the Day Class girls. They get their Night Class fix, and we get to explore a bit,” he smirked, tapping at one of the timed points. “These are shift checks-nyo. I’ve been watching the Student Council from the roof the past two nights. It seems they follow a pattern... or try to stick as close to it as possible. If we stick to this sheet, we can probably avoid coming into contact with them~”
“I could kiss you~!” she teased again after the redhead had finished explaining his master plan. And oh was it a brilliant thing indeed. Tomoka could hardly contain herself as everything was laid out before her. “Kikumaru Eiji-sama, you are without a doubt a true genius.” the pigtailed girl grinned. “So... when do you want to get started?” Was it hard to tell she was eager? If it weren’t for the fact the two had to be very cautious about the idea she would have already run out to start.
Smirking at the other’s eagerness, Eiji withdrew another sheet of paper. “I know I’m a genius~. I’m brilliant and awesome and made of win. You don’t have to keep telling me-nya,” he winked, setting the paper down. “First thing we need to decide is a schedule; what places we should hit up first, which ones are too risky, and that kind of stuff. Also, we’ll have to figure out a hit list too. Naturally we’re going to be going after all of them-nya, but it would be good to have some kind of plan?”
“Yes, yes, of course.” she nodded to his statements again. “I think the best way to scale that would be at the gates for the next few days. Try to survey which boys the girls are really pining for.” Tomoka paused and looked at the paper thoughtfully. “As for which ones are too risky well... I guess the best way to find out is close contact with as many of them individually as we can? Or just through the journals.” she smiled, “Or ask Sakuno... but I don’t think she can help much on something like this. Don’t need her getting into trouble, hehe~” Not that Tomoka wasn’t more than ready to get into trouble herself. A profit and the eyecandy were all just bonuses to the job.
It was Eiji’s turn to nod in agreement, already having thought of that as an option. “The only problem is, it’s not just the people we need to worry about-nya, but the places too.” He couldn’t imagine that the Night Class would be okay with them wandering their dormitory halls. And if they snuck around the school building they were bound to get caught.
“We’ve got to do this very carefully...”
“Yes... but hey, we won’t know until we try!” she smiled, getting caught the least of her worries about the operation. “We’ll have to keep those Day Class girls quiet about things too... you know how gossip spreads like wildfire here.” Tomoka couldn’t help but sigh. She had become the topic of conversation herself after her time with Jirou, not that she had cared but it just went to prove how fast word got around. It was a large school after all and well... school girls were school girls.
“Yeah, I know. We’ll have to make them sign a contract or something,” he frowned. That had occurred to him as well, though he was almost positive that Tomoka would be a better candidate than he for crowd control. “And I didn’t say we shouldn’t try-nya. I just don’t want this to end before it starts, you know?”
“Hm... sounds good to me! Won’t know until we give it a shot at this rate anyway.” she grinned again. “Just tell me what to do, partner~” she winked. Tomoka didn’t want Eiji’s plan to fail before it started either. She could handle the gossip if push came to shove, she knew how to control it at the academy well enough already. And if everything went according to their plans it would be a very lucrative business~ No way she was passing that up!
“Well, for now you’ve sorta said it,” he smirked. “The first thing we have to do is make the hit list. We can probably do that tomorrow.” She was right after all - the easiest time to judge who would be the most profitable would be at the class change ceremony. “After that it’s trying to figure out where each guy is at any point of the day - or in this case night. Once we figure that out, I say we’re good to get down to business-nya.”
“Roger!” It was all pretty simple after they had broken it down. Tomoka already had a few ideas of who to add and not add to their hit list right off the bat. But she was determined to ultimately have all of the Night Class on the list; it couldn’t be that hard, could it? They’d just have to be cautious and alert. “Ooh, I can’t wait, this is going to be too fun~” she mused deviously.
Tomoka’s excitement was infectious and Eiji couldn’t help but feel his anxiousness drift away. “Right - we’ll start tomorrow than. Let’s both make lists and compare them. We’ll go from there.” Tomoka was right, after all. Nothing was set in stone until they actually tried.
Besides, what was the worst that could happen?
