Forgive me LJ for I have sinned. It's been nearly three weeks since my last post. What am I saying? I posted last week in the U2 community about some unsual U2 cd that I just received off of eBay.
Anyway, I am so looking forward to the end of this week. Not only is Friday the 16th my wife's 33rd birthday, but I am leaving Saturday morning for the long drive back to the Bay Area. My mate Mike and I should arrive in fremont at about 8 p.m. if all goes well. His ride is pretty nice, a 2007 Black Mustang. I may even drive for a portion of the trip.
I am going to make myself available for my friends that I left behind. Having been away from everyone for 27 months now, it's not often I hear from many of the old gang. Out of sight, out of mind....
Even if I don't get to see everyone, it will still be nice to go back home. Now that the temperatures are tolerable here in the (Death) Valley of the Sun, it will almost be culture shock to be back with cooler daytime temperatures, and actually having to wear a sweatshirt, or *shudder* a jacket even. I probably haven't worn a jacket here for at least 10 months. I even went as far as to throw away or give away some coats and sweaters before I left Oakland.
I do have tentative plans for Monday the 19th, and that is to watch my cousin's band rehearse. Maybe I'll even chip in a little something! After party will follow. I hope I still remember how.
My people back home are going to be so surprised at what a beautiful young man Alex is growing into. He is 21 months old now, and he amazes me each and everyday. I will miss Alex and Shannon a lot for the first five days of my vacation. They will both join me on Thanksgiving morning. I even miss him when I'm busy working and he's at daycare. He's a typical kid in that he throws random tantrums, but they don't last long. When he's happy, he is the sweetest, cutest little boy ever.
