Only 4 days until Christmas. Wow, this year has gone by rather fast it seems. A year ago this time, I was a father-to-be, working for TEAM Security, struggling to find a way to enjoy what little spare time I had. I never had much peace when I was their Personnel Director. Spending New Year's Eve away from my sweetheart was horrible. Shannon was more than 7 ½ months pregnant, and we couldn't break in 2006 together. She was already alseep when I finally got home, and I spent the rest of the late night on the couch watching television, trying to unwind.
Things have definitely improved for me, and for all of us since I left that company. My current job allows me to not be glued to the phone or tethered to a company phone and pager. I am so grateful for that! I am grateful for my family, Shannon, and the Bug. I can't wait to see my parents on Saturday. They are flying in from the Bay Area late Friday night. My sister is picking them up at Sky Harbor.
This going to be the best Christmas in a long time. Not that it was bad last year. We just didn't have The Bug around yet. And all of my family and friends are back in California, so obviously the puzzle isn't as complete here in the desert as I am used to. Just one more day of work, and then I'm off for the weekend plus Monday - Wednesday. Yay!
