the trip back to the SF Bay Area was fantastic! here's a quick rundown:

got in to San Jose Airport sometime in the noon hour. we stopped and picked up some burgers for lunch before heading to my parents'. we caught up for a bit, and my parents got reacquainted with their grandson. before i knew it, it was time to head to BART. the Giants vs. Diamondbacks game was at 7:15. Jeff, Chris T., Chris D., and Lauren caught up with us just after game time. Shannon, my dad, and i got our orange Giants caps. the others did not.
during the game, which SF won 10-2, i had 3 beers. it wasn't too cold for a late April night game. unfortunately Shannon came down with a cold, and she is still at home recovering. we didn't get back to Fremont until after midnight.
i had to get up super early to reserve picnic tables at Lake Elizabeth for Saturday's BBQ/family gathering. i arrived before 8 a.m., and people started arriving around 1 p.m. it was a long day. everyone who came got to meet Alex for the first time. my aunts brought bags full of new outfits for him. it was like a baby shower. my dad and i finally packed up sometime after 4 p.m.
we spent Saturday night in, watching movies.
Sunday was spent at the house, hosting my mom's sister and her two daughters. again, more presents for Alex. we needed another bag just for his new clothes so we could get them home. my family is so great, and many laughs were shared. and of course they all adored my wittle bug.
Sunday night, Shannon and i took a late drive to Santa Cruz, then to the lighthouse out on Hwy 1. my dad let me borrow his Toyota Tundra. i have to say, the extra cab really does come in handy. i doubt he's ever used the truck in the way that we did Sunday night. the lighthouse just north of Davenport is a favorite spot of ours, and one we'll return to each time we visit California.
Monday held one more outing, as i took Shannon to Mod Lang. it was formerly in Berkeley, and upon arrival, i found that it has moved to El Cerrito. we drove to their new location and found a few cds to add to our collection. i got the new Charlatans cd single for Blackened Blue Eyes, and the new Martin Hannett compilation, while Shannon picked up the latest American Analog Set called SET FREE. here's the majority of what we purchased on the trip.

as soon as we got back from Berkeley, my parents treated us to dinner at Market Broiler. it was awesome. sadly, we had to pack and rush to the airport after dinner. the time went too fast, but doesn't it always do when you don't want it to?

family, cds, presents for alex, california
