dramas always make me cry

but at least this time it ended with happy crying

i just finished watching queen in hyun's man and oh gods let me tell you:
it is literally the best drama i've seen a long, long time.

the ending was perfect - i mean, of course i would've loved more, but hey. any drama that ends in makeouts and cute outtakes is a-okay in my book. but as for the actual drama ending - yeah, amazing. the leadup to it was heartbreaking as fuck but hot damn was it worth every second of angst.

i'll admit that the acting, esp in the beginning episodes, was kind of bad in a lot of parts, but hey, like, most kdramas are like that so.... (also the main actress had pretty much the most realistic heartbreaking crying scenes literally ever and thats always a plus for me because for some reason i enjoy watching pretty people cry)
also i didnt like a lot of the side characters most of the time but maybe thats just because i tend to only care about the main couples in dramas - though props to the writers for fleshing out everyone pretty well

and okay - so there are vague similarities to this other drama that came out at the same time, rooftop prince (both of these came out last year and i actually watched rooftop prince instead of qihm while they were airing simply because of yoochun being the main character - i love me some jyj - but i almost wish i had been watching this one too instead of waiting a year), but those similarities are really only that its about a time traveling prince/advisor to the king (depending on the drama) who falls in love with a girl from the future. also there are cute 'learning about how the modern world works' hijinks, but overall these two dramas were executed in completely different styles.

but hey hey hey for every shortcoming this drama has (which actually isnt that many since a lot of the issues i have with it are a matter of personal preference and i dont even have that many issues with it) theres like... at least 20 good things to counteract it. so yeah.

if you are ever in the mood for a kdrama with time travel, cute hijinks, sageuk drama thats as angsty and badass as possible, adorable protags who pretty much always act cute together, and a roller coaster of emotions that totally pays off in the end (and also all throughout), then i totally recommend this drama i mean really

also please please please - if you've watched this drama then comment so we can talk about it i have so many feelings and i have no idea where to put them

(fingers crossed that theres at least one fic for this series somewhere on the internet - or else i will cry)
