I have a new layout! It's incredibly temporary however, because while I like the physical layout itself (
minty_peach is made of win), I'm not crazy about the colours. And while I really love the header, it wasn't really what I was looking for. I'd mess with the colours, because that's easy enough to do, but I like them to match the header, and I don't have a new header at the moment. Sigh, my life.
Secondly. Eleven. I.. ok, let me explain something for those not in the Doctor Who fandom. Doctor Who is huge. It started airing in the UK back in 1963. That's before Star Trek (1966), and well before Star Wars (1977). And one of the biggest, most exciting things about Doctor Who is the Doctor's regeneration. Obviously in the original series there wasn't all this media, I doubt there would have been announcements on who the next Doctor would be, you just found out as it happened. But it was still a huge, sometimes stressful, sometimes heartbreaking thing. I remember my mom says she was shocked and a little sad when Four (Tom Baker) regenerated because he'd been the actor to play the Doctor the longest, and she really loved him. (Though, to be honest, she thought Five [Peter Davison] was gorgeous, so she got over her sadness quickly.)
Me personally... I'll admit that yesterday I avoided the computer like the plague. I was so worried about who it was going to be that I didn't want to know. I finally let Cailin call me last night after she came home and found out. A bit of overreacting on my part. But my actual reaction to who it was, was,
"... He's younger than Gareth. Those sons of bitches!! LOL. But.. okay." I'm not freaking out, I'm not upset, and honestly I can't really pass judgment on him because he's a nobody. Which is exactly what I wanted them to do, and exactly what they've always done (with the exception of Christopher Eccleston, who'd been around a bit - though I didn't know who he was before Who either). However, I don't blame anyone in the fandom who is freaking out. I don't agree, but I don't blame them. This is a huge thing. It's the first time in the new series that we've had such a major regeneration. Nine (Christopher Eccleston) to Ten (David Tennant) was big as well, but we only knew Nine for one series - a whole 13 episodes. We've been with Ten for 3 series and change. This is the first time for kids to have to let go of someone they've really grown attached to. This is the first time for a whole new group of fans who were too young when the original series aired (or not alive at all yet) to go through something as major as this.
So yes, this is a really big thing. And everyone is allowed their individual opinions. That's my opinion.
.... Selfishly, I told Cailin that I worried whether people would want to read my Ianto!Eleven series now, haha.
