I finally figured out a reasonable design for the last two beads from my first project. Earrings made to match. They're not super perfect but they're good enough for comfort.

Today I turned the beads from yesterday into a 16" simple necklace with some silver glass sead beads. There are two beads still leftover to make matching earrings tomorrow. Fun! Today I learned what was always wrong with the necklaces I made as a child. I wasn't using crimping beads and had to try too hard to make tiny knots in my string.

Inspired by Etsy I went to Hobby Lobby and bought myself a little bit of clay and an intro book on working with the stuff. Here are the results of my first effort. I didn't burn anything, they're moderately round and evenly sized and actually like the way I was hoping (black, grey and white marbleized effect). Effort #1 = success.
