What Comics Should be Made into Movies

So, it’s like 12 at night as I write this and I can’t sleep. This looks like a good time to write.

So, comic movies are becoming more and more popular. They sell a buttload of tickets, being able to hit on both adult and children cylinders, and visually, they make good eye candy for the ADD riddled masses and, on top of that, they already have ( Read more... )

I personally think Transmetropolitan could make a good TV show on Comedy Central or Adult Swim. Probably not such a great movie.

I also apologize for not noticing your blog entries for the past, like, year. I recently realized that my notifications for LJ were going to my old school e-mail, which no longer exists, so I never got notified when you made a post. Whoops. Fixed now.

I agree about Transmet, btw. In the same vein as Preacher.

On a similar note, since you recommended a lot of Ellis stuff, what would you say to the idea of a FreakAngels movie/series?

I got to the end of book 2 before I decided to give it a rest until more issues were out. Just those two books barely covered 24 hours, so I don't know. I think concept wise, it can work. I guess it depends where the rest of the plot is going. Like Runaways, it might work just as well as a series.

Volumes 3 and 4 have been out in trades for a while if you want to check those out. It is rather slow-paced, which is kind of why I think a movie might be better suited. Still, it is slow-paced because there are a lot of characters to follow and a lot of things happening. It also doesn't help that each chapter is only 5 pages long and is released every one or two weeks.

Volume 3 takes place about a week after Volume 2, and except for a few chapters of backstory in Volume 4, everything since Volume 3 has been within that same day, so the pacing always stays about the same.

Based on the plot so far, I think it is movie-shaped, but that also depends on how much more complex it decides to get. There's a bit of an OH SHIT moment at the end of Volume 4 that could change a lot, but I don't know how much more plot Ellis intends to drop on us.
