Premonitions

Yesterday was tough. While working, my thoughts kept returning to the possibility that I will not return from this journey. The many unstable places on the route, rampant antipathy directed at westerners, especially Americans and the lack of readily available emergency services kept my thoughts dark for many hours. Listening to the BBC world service probably didn't help either. But I've been through these fearful moods before and I will again. Courage isn't lack of fear, just the strength to move through it.

Last night I researched Masonic contacts and gained confidence in the viability of my own Masonic vision. There are a lot of wonderful committed brothers with a similar and complementary view of the fraternity; men with the same frustrations and idealism that is inspiring this trip. Read a Laudable Pursuit by the Knights of the North. The goal of this journey is to find out where freemasonry is living and vibrant and share this with all other Freemasons.

Also, There are some incredible hitchhiking sites out there. In eastern Europe hitchhiking is so ubiquitous that it there are clubs and competitions and world records. Even some good info on hitching in Africa. I am feeling better about this.

Now off to work and one final dental appointment.
