Well after posting my journal entry the other day Kris took me into the city and I bought even more manga, bringing my total up to about $280. But but but it was totally worth it and most of it was like 20% off and from $35 down to $15 and I even got Ranma 1/2 from $30 for only $10!
Now my collection takes up the entire top shelf of my bookcase and then my anime dvds take up the entire second shelf...I need more shelf space in my room *sigh* but at least now I don't feel like I am being a poser when I say to people that I am a anime/ manga fanatic! Anyway apart from the volumes I already listed I also bought: vol 15 of Fruits Basket, vol 6 of D.N.Angel, vols 2 - 5 of Gravitation (gods that is a damn addictive manga...and no Krissu-kun not just for the boy sex...I mean it helps...but its also amusing to watch Shuichi...he's such a ditz), vol 1 of Alichino (its new and one of the most gorgeous manga I have ever seen, lots of detail, fine hair, big eyes surrounded by very detailed eyelashes...awsome story line too), vol 20 of Ranma 1/2 the illustrated novel (it needed a good home) and vol 1 of Midori Days (about a boy who suddenly wakes up to discover that his right hand has turned into a girl).
Also one of my late Christmas presents arrived yesterday. IT WAS THE FIRST DEATH NOTE MOVIE! Holy shit! I still can't get over the fact that even though I have waited this long to see it that now I finally own it...AN OFFICIAL DVD NOT A BURNED COPY!
OMG L is the most adorable thing on the face of the earth! Matsuyama -sama is one of the best actors on earth I have decided. He played the most brilliant L! Apparently he studied L's mannerisms so that he could get them just right and it shows! I mean when you first meet him he is slouching and then scratches his leg with his foot exactly like in the manga and then he goes and leaps into his chair, directly into L's trademark crouched sitting position. I totally believed him as L! Plus it was cute because he was stirring his sugar saturated tea with a lolly pop and this one time he falls asleep watching the monitors and Raito's dad comes and puts a blanket around his shoulders, its sweet. It's funny because it really shows just how childish L can be and also that he completely understands human behaviour but can't seem to apply it when he is speaking with people (either that or he doesn't care lol). Fujiwara - san was good as Raito as well...but then I knew he would be, I totally believed his innocent Raito and when he went skitz he creeped me out just as much as Raito did when I read the manga. Also for some strange reason Watari creeped me out, I don't know if its because he's a creepy old man or because I can't look at him the same since Go-Devil-Dante's flash (let me jog your memory... "Come on Watari just like we rehearsed...my milkshake brings all the boys to the yard..." *shudders*). It was a great movie altogether though. Sure it didn't follow the manga exactly but they nailed all the characters and explained a lot of things that the manga didn't get into a lot of detail with. The second movie is out and I am getting it as well (as soon as my mum orders it from eBay). I'm looking forward to the future movies, mainly to see the following scenes/characters: Raito and L handcuffed together (mwhahahahaha I'm a perv I know), I wanna see fluffy little sheep-like Near and the leather clad blond chocoholic Mello, more of L and Raito trying to outwit one another, and plenty of the future scenes which I won't mention in case I spoil it for people.
Oh and another thing! [NOTE: This is Fruits Basket related, from chapters 16 and up so if you haven't read them then don't say I didn't warn you because the following passage contains a few spoilers]
I was reading Fruits Basket...turns out that Akito is a frigging girl! No joke I saw his (sorry I just can't bring myself to say her) breasts and everything! Apparently his mother was really twisted and horrible but he had to be raised as a man because he was the head of the house hold and the 'god' of the zodiac members. He had sex with Kureno (the man cursed by the rooster)! And Shigure got pissed about it because he cares for Akito! I mean it explains why he hates all the zodiac girls so much but it just came as such a shock! I mean the anime never mentioned ANYTHING like this, I just thought he was a gorgeous bastard who was sulking because he was dying because of the curse...I dunno it just feels weird and wrong for him to be a girl...I dunno if I can hate him as much anymore. It was so much easier to hate him when he was a guy because he was just being horrible to everyone and hurting poor Yuki because he was an asshole and wanted everyone to suffer as much as he was suffering...but now...its different, he's emotional, he just wants to be loved and wants to keep the zodiac members close to him so that he doesn't get abandoned like his mother did to him before so he keeps them close the only way he knows how, by being horrible to them and then he cries and asks them to stay and never leave him. Its so pathetic that I actually feel sorry for him and I can't hate him as much (not because he is a girl but because of the backstory which came about because he was a girl). I dunno I'm confused and I really want to finish the series to see how all of this works out (I think I've only got vols 20 & 21 to go).
And with that I leave you to the confusion of my rant so that I can go draw some pictures of the pretty boys named Edgar and Kito for my new manga...
