Among all the various list of things bookmarked in our minds of what we want to do in the near or distant future atleast once, many of my bookmark includes watching a few of my favourite artists upfront a few meters away from me.
The feel of concerts is unexplainable. Can the artist instigate the feelings and emotions that you feel while listening to the recorded song upfront, while they are performing on the stage is the most important question. In most cases they do, many a times that feeling is multiplied mostly from the feel around you and also the like minded people all in one place, who worship in their own way the ones up there on stage.
So in my lifetime I want to see a few people up on stage and performing in front of me. 3 singers whose voice tantalizes me. In no particular order :)
Sting - I hardly repent any of my actions, 'why' could be for another post another time but I have repented not making it to Sting concert when he was in Bangalore. During college time, I had just asked my mother for Mark Knopfler concert tickets and I didn't have the heart to ask her again for that much money! Yes, Rs.900 was a lot back then for me atleast!
The voice of Sting is something that comes from deep within, a distant voice yet something very close, along with the British accent is only hard to resist. Its almost magical. A voice that gels so well with his bass guitar, notes like the bass notes but something more natural. What a feel it would be to hear him sing Roxanne or Fields of gold right there in front of me! oh my!
Rob Thomas! - I run out of the right adjectives, The short comings of knowledge and Language. But his voice more than anything is very, best I can think of is, "true". Beyond all that, yes has that sexy touch to it, but that it more because of the way he choose to pause between his phrases or say the syllables. I have already said everything I wanted to say in my age old post
Rob Thomas all the way. But liking his voice is like a never ending love story! He can sing a cover version of any song and give a whole different feel to it that you didn't know existed. So watching him live would be a dream come true.
David Gilmour - I have nothing to say here other than Pink Floyd and Gilmour have played with my head is so many ways I can't even comprehend and his is the most haunting voice. When he sings the words he has to sing, it deep roots their meaning many folds more. His voice has the power to let to delve into your mood to the greatest intensity where your will power is questioned when you need to get out of it. The only place where I like the word pink is in Pink Floyd! I have no more hope of watching them play as a band, but atleast David Gilmour ! Hopefully once!!
Among bands it has to be Metallica!!
I won't say more about this cause every metallica fan know what I mean. Just to see them alive once!!
I think for these concerts I would even fly to any part of India and watch it! With or without company :)
The picture is dedicated to Rob Thomas <3 cover version of Time after Time.
