Day 2

Aug 18, 2011 22:52

  1. My immediate family. My mom is like my best friend. I'm very close with one of my brothers. I'm not as close to my dad or my other brother, but I wouldn't trade them for anything.
  2. Dogs. I don't think I could ever live without one. My parents' dog, Vinni, took care of me when I was recovering from the hospital. My dogs (Lillie and Louie) take care of me every day. They know when I'm happy, when I'm sad, and they love me unconditionally.
  3. Food. I love trying new things, indulging in comfort food, making a recipe my own, and trying new restaurants. I was raised on my mom's southern-style cooking and her mac n cheese is still my favorite food of all time (her meatloaf coming a close second). I'm always trying out new recipes, especially for desserts. My brother, sister-in-law, and I make it our mission to try out a new restaurant every week. I will try any food once.
  4. Traveling. My perfect job would be one where I traveled 75% of the time or more. I love the feeling of being in a new place. The wonder of seeing things up close that I may have only seen in books before. Exploring a city on my own, trying new foods, having new experiences.
  5. Red. It's my favorite color. Anyone who walks into my house can tell this immediately. It's such a vibrant, confident color.
  6. Books. I love reading, I always have. My favorite books are satires. I like collecting books, too. Especially recipe books. I have a bunch from the early 1900s and they're kind of hilarious. Instead of just ingredients and instructions, there's all these little asides and stories.
  7. France. I'm a francophile, okay? I love everything from the fleur de lis to the food to the craziness of the language.
  8. Video games. I've had a gaming system and/or computer in my house since I was born. I think it's the ultimate way to explore someone else's creative mind. It's fun, it can relieve stress, and it's something I will always have in common with my brothers.
  9. Antiques. Mostly things you would use to decorate your house with. I'm always looking for tin ceiling tiles, cameras from the pre-WWII era, depression/carnival glass, World's Fair posters, black and white photography, old postcards.
