this week has been a whirlwind.

monday: j announces my promotion to the team. team takes it well. j announces it to the whole company.
tuesday: come in to work to find dozens of congrats! emails. some from people i've only met once. book meetings with each team member. they go well except for the one with c who is so set in her ways, she might as well be rooted in concrete.
wednesday: meet with j and ask if i'm getting a replacement for me. he says, yes. i say, that's great. he says, actually you're getting two. i say, even better. he says, they're going to be working out of our sister-company in india. i say, huh? but am very excited about it!
thursday: talk to j and an svp over at the sister-company about this. learn i'm going to travel to india this year or early next year. also, they've already got a list of candidates picked out for me to interview. later, announce this to team; they take it very well.
friday: print out resumes to read in car on the way to michigan. have trouble understanding india's educational system and do not have data access on my phone in that area. weep. collect rocks with mom. swim. play frisbee with dad. farmstand, dinner, home.

so, yeah, relatively soon, i'm going to spend a month in india. i'm very excited about this but at the same time, i have zero experience in managing a global team. and i have five interviews scheduled monday and tuesday morning with the candidates and i don't even fully understand their resumes. wikipedia to the rescue?!

island in the sun, life is strange, india
