On Wednesday, I got most of my hair chopped off. I think the longest section now is maybe two inches. It's all spiky and messy and razor-cut and there's this huge swath of purple in the front. I fucking love it. It's so low maintenance too because I just wake up with bed head and fluff it up a bit and that's it. I'll have to post pictures tomorrow ( Read more... )

I hear ya. I've been through similar situations. You just to remind yourself, when you're feeling guilty about leaving those people behind, that any one of them would probably do the same. Leave without full consideration. If you were to take everyone around you into consideration each time you make a career decision, you'd probably never go anywhere. You have to think about yourself because nine times out of ten, they aren't. Not in a rude way that they wouldn't care about you, but they're going to do what's best for them, too.

The reason I wouldn't trust just telling your boss that you want more and waiting is that you waited this long for things to change and they never did. Then again, I'm also bitter about these sorts of things because that's how my three years went at my last job. And I was freaking out to give notice because I knew they'd be in a lurch, but I had to remind myself that they aren't doing their part to keep me happy, despite my repeated complaints for things to change. There were no hard feelings, my boss knew I wanted more and wasn't getting it.

You're right about that.

I guess it turns out that you have to have your manager's approval before applying for another position. Which is kind of weird, if you ask me. I'm going to have to talk to her when she gets back from vacation.

Thanks for the advice! :D
