Is it possible for the world to look this way forever?

This has been the longest week ever. I worked 10 hours every day, except for Friday, when my manager finally let me go home early. If you add in my commute time, that's another three hours, making thirteen hours or more total every day. By the time Friday morning rolled around, I wanted to call in dead, but I went in for three and a half hours instead. I don't think that my brain is functioning properly anymore and I still have a fucking cold. The only good thing about staying so late and being forced to take the main line train is that I had plenty of time to read, so I've finished up three books this week.

The other thing I've been doing on the commute to and from work is watching Sliders. With every episode I watch, I blink in amazement at the guest stars. So far, I have noticed Bernie Coulson, Nicholas Lea, and Jeffrey Dean Morgan. The funny thing is that two of the three of them were also on The X-Files. Small world.

Today, my mom and I went to Williams-Sonoma on a lark and I'm so glad we did. Right now, they have tons of Indian, Moroccan, and Thai cooking implements, sauces, and spices in-store. I ended up buying all of the Indian stuff they had in-stock. So, tonight, I made the marinade for shrimp biryani and that's marinating in the fridge right now. I also made a raita. Tomorrow, I will make naan from scratch and finish off the biryani. I'm so excited to be cooking again. I'm also going to make mini quiches for breakfast.

This whole thing with Bush wanting to send in 20,000 plus more troops to Iraq is really getting me down. I'm really tired of this war. More than that, I'm tired of the United States' attitude toward other nations, and, tribes, ethnic groups, and religious organizations without national representation. We (as in the government) act like we know everything, which is a joke. We've only been a cohesive unit (if you could call us that even now) since reconstruction. That means we've only really been around the block for 130 years. Wow. That's like a blip on the radar for most other nations and cultures. We're a baby compared to France and Britain. Hell, compared to China, we're like primordial ooze. Yet we're going to march around and tell everyone else how they should run things. It's kind of like some bratty teenager who thinks they know everything. What really gets me is the over-use of the word "terrorist." Does anyone even know what that means anymore? The dictionary definition is "• noun a person who uses violence and intimidation in the pursuit of political aims." So, is that random Islamic guy a terrorist or is it Bush? Whoever writes the history books will be the judge, no doubt. After all, George Washington was a terrorist until the British lost the Revolutionary war.
