So this weekend was our Orientation for the Mission Team. It was really all the Teams that are going, not just the Malawi team. There are two teams going around the Central Territory, which is pretty much the MidWest USA, and they'll be helping around at the corps (churches) and camps and such. The other teams are Ukraine, Equador, and then Malawi.
It turns out that the Malawi team is actually going to have the most difficult time. There's usually a "cool" group, of those type of people who seem extra holy and outgoing, and therefore end up "popular", or at least well-known. Well, our team is NOT the "cool" team, but it is the most challenging place to go, which I think is interesting. I am not sure if the other members know about the "cool" group thing. :D LOL, anyway I think it's cool that we may not be the most Loudly Spiritual, if that makes sense, and yet somehow, they have chosen us as the best equipped to handle the roughest stuff. Laura thinks it's because they needed calmer people, more level-headed people for the Malawi team, and I think that makes sense. We're not the most boisterous, but we're calm and faithful and willing to love those Malawian people like crazy! All this I know from about 3 hours of "Team Time". =D
In other news, they told us to bring colored underwear, because we have to wash it by hand, and colors will hide grime. o_O
