▫ Fighting in WonderlandSouji has two methods of fighting. One is normal, physical battle. His weapon of choice is a two-handed sword, but he'll use most anything of analogous length or weight, such as a golf club or a baseball bat.
The second method, used in tandem with the first, is to summon a Persona. For those unfamiliar with the Shin Megami Tensei or Persona universes, a Persona is a sort of avatar that is a part of the user's soul. It can be summoned at will to deliver physical or magical attacks, and its specialties and the form it takes will reflect the personality and strengths of the user.
Souji is special in that he has the Wild Card ability. This means he's able to create and use more than one Persona. In his canon, he can create over a hundred different Personas, each with its own skill set, and can carry up to twelve with him at any time.
In his canon, Souji is never shown summoning a Persona outside of the TV world, and the general consensus is that it can't be done. Due to the fact that Wonderland is a separate world and functions under slightly different rules, Souji can summon a Persona there. In the interest of fairness, however, he is limited to three of the over one hundred Personas he has access to in the game, and without access to the Velvet Room, he isn't able to switch Personas like he normally would be able to, either.
Souji can switch between his three Personas at will, putting each ones passive skills, resistances, and so on into effect without actually summoning. When he switches Personas, the Persona's stats become his (i.e. if he switches to Persona B and it has a lower agility stat than Persona A had, Souji's own agility in physical battle will drop to match it).
Summoning does take a physical toll on Souji through the consumption of either health (HP) or energy (SP). These don't have numeric values as they do in the game (at least not that Souji is aware of), but each spell or attack a Persona uses consumes one or the other. If Souji runs out of energy, he can still continue to fight physically. However, if he runs out of health, he loses consciousness.
For the purposes of maintaining some shred of realism, assume that Souji's HP is about 550 and SP is about 350. The SP and HP consumption values given in the Persona info below will give some idea of how much a particular spell or attack will affect him.
