I really appreciate my cheap hobbies very much now that I am unemployed (student: it's the same thing) and the economy continues to remain in shambles. I'm likely to not make it as an illustrator or writer, but at least I will be able to take pleasure in the wildly entertaining activities I do in my noodle. Most importantly, these are FREE OF CHARGE. Try some out, it's really fun.
1.) Creating band names: I love creating band names. I actually can't even remember when I started doing it, but it might have been kindergarten because that's when I really liked Salt 'N Pepa. Yeah, I was down with it as a 5 year old. Holla. I never realized I did this until maybe a year ago when a friend pointed a random snippet of conversation out as "a great band name," and I thought, "You think that's good? You ain't seen nothin!" That's when I realized that I had a rather large number of band names littered in my head.
- Some of my best ones include Mosquito Jackson and the Faulty Knobs. I know I have more, but I can't remember. I need to start writing these little gems down.
2.) Rhyming: This game is amazing when you want to zone somebody out. Maybe my professor is talking about web design and the significance of a proper interface.... YEAH, I DON'T GIVE A SHIT! That's when rhyming comes in. I look like I'm listening, and I really am. I'm just picking random words that are tumbling out of his piehole and finding as many rhymes as fast as I can. Man, fan, Mystic Tan, Halperstram,... see?
3.) Celebrity look-alikes: This is one of my favorite games to play, even more than mah-jong. You can play it alone or with a friend, although I must say that playing with a friend is funnier because you have 2 sets of eyes to double the amount of celebrity look-alikes. Playing alone has a hazard though. If you laugh, you look like a lunatic because, well, you're laughing by yourself.
- Some of my best sightings have included "Portuguese Tim McGraw" and "Mexican Terrence Howard"
Those are all the cheap shits and giggles I can remember right now. I know I do more of these, but it's hard to remember when I'm not doing it. I'm trying to keep a notepad on me at all times so that I can write down the things I need to remember. I also need to get started on a to-do list.
- Pick up art supplies
- finish Drawing homework
- Study for Bio test
- make more than 1 friend on Livejournal. I have like a handful of friends in real life and then 1 friend on LJ. Really, that's just sad. No offense, Setito.
