THE ULTIMATE GAZETTE PIMP POST.
INTRO.
Who the hell are Gazette ?
Gazette is a Japanese rock band formed on 10.03.2002 by Ruki, Reita, Uruha, Aoi and Yune. They are currently signed under PS Company, King Records and CLJ Records.
NB! Yune is no longer in Gazette. He was replaced by Kai in 2003.
Hmm, tell me more.
They're amazing. Bias aside now. Khm. Their first single 別れ道 (Wakaremichi) was release on April 20, 2002, limited to only 1, 000 copies. Two more singles followed on August 30, 2002 (鬼畜教師(32才独身)の悩殺講座, which romanizes as Kichiku Kyoushi (32sai Dokushin) no Nousatsu Kouza) and November 1, 2003 (午前0時のとらうまラヂヲ, romaji is Gozen 0-ji no Trauma Radio). Talk about big gap, huh? BUT WAIT. On May 28, Gazette released their awesome EP Cockayne Soup. They toured (with Hanamuke and Vidoll; two separate tours). Gazette and Vidoll were also featured in Cure magazine together. In December they played a co-headlining show with Deadman. So young, and already gaining momentum. *insert happy tears here*. SO BACK TO BUSINESS. Even more EPs were released in 2003. 3 more to be exact. Busy busy band. We have 悪友會 -あくゆうかい- (Akuyuukai) on June 25, 2003. Then スペルマルガリィタ (Spermargarita; no, I didn't misspell it) on July 30, 2003. And 犯行声明文 (Hankou Seimeibun) on October 1, 2003. On January 16, 2004 they had a solo performance at Shibuya-AX, which was later released as a DVD. On March 24, 2004, the epicness that is their MADARA EP came out. And oh it was a glorious day because it reached #2 on the Oricon Indie Charts. ORICON, if you don't quite get it. Their absolutely a-fucking-mazing debut album, DISORDER, was released on October 13, 2004. It entered the Oricon Daily Charts at #3. (my note: This album is really punkish and matches it's title completely, you can practically feel the riot and all the DISORDER that accompanies it.) Another EP, Gama, was released on August 3, 2005. How many EPs do these guys release, like whoa.
ANYWAY. In 2005, they went major. EDIT, 31.03.2010: Okay so maybe they didn't. Their MySpace states that they are, in fact, an indie band. Who would've thought. Fandom baaaaaaawing ensued and all whaaaaambulances were busy. On February 8, 2006 they released their sophomore album, entitled NIL and captioned "Nameless Liberty Underground". IT ALSO BECAME THEIR FIRST EUROPEAN RELEASE. EUROPE REJOICED. Some misc info about two of the songs: the badass DISCHARGE has lyrics ... in an unrecognizeable language. Go Ruki! & the heart-wrenching 体温 (Taion) is a tribute to
Junko Furuta. (My note: This album is massively loved by the fanbase. So don't insult it. Some stans are really scary. But if you're in any other Asian fandom you know that. So yeah, just a warning.) In July 2006, the band held it's first overseas performance in Beethovenhalle, Bonn, Germany.
2007 was ... a year. In which they released their 3rd album .... *drumroll* .... STACKED RUBBISH. *drumroll end* It charted awesomely, just like all their releases. This album was a subject of great contorversy among fans because ... MOST OF THE TITLES WERE IN ENGLISH. Then fans immediately became scared that Ruki will actually sing in English. Or should I say Engrish. So instead of being happy that the boys are releasing something, they baaaawed and whined. But when it came out, they didn't complain, did they. Talk about two-faced. This was also the album that split the fanbase in two - fans of old Gazette and fans of new Gazette. I was about to type something, but I'll keep my fingers still, so no one is insulted. (My note: STACKED RUBBISH is epic.) 2007 was also the year of their first European tour.
In 2008, they released two singles 紅蓮 (Guren) and LEECH. They both charted on #1 SUCK IT, J-POP.
On November 15, 2008, Gazette held a secret show in Shinjuku Station. Around 250 people were expected to show, but that did not happen. Over 9000 attended (read that as "Over 7000 attended"). Due to the amount of people on the streets, the police were forced to shut it down after two songs. (AND IT WAS SO FUCKING BADASS BECAUSE THEY OBVIOUSLY DIDN'T WANT TO LEAVE AND RUKI WAS ALL "FUCK YOU" AT THE POLICEMEN AND...AND...okay, I'll shut up.)
On July 15, 2009, they released their 4th studio album, DIM. (I still remember how I screamed and ran around the house when I found out, how my parents thought I was crazy etc etc. I'M A STAN, SO WHAT.) It's flawless. I don't even know what to say, because you are speechless when perfection is in front of you.
Boring.
Then leave. We're getting to the sappy part.
PROFILES.
RUKI. (Feb 1, 1982)
Gotta love this fashion diva. Well, he is the vocalist of the GazettE, the “heart” and the “brain” of the band (as the other 4 members put it). He is 1.62cm tall, and adorable, even though he doesn't like admitting it. And yeah, he wears bright pink pants.
“I'm a, I'm a, a diva,
I'm a, I'm a, a diva”
If someone want to impress him, he should NOT cook/show/talk about strawberries. He doesn’t cook for himself so all of us that can't cook and ever have to live with this guy (zero people) - cross fingers and count on photosynthesis.
Maybe that’s the secret to why he is so well-built (or skinny).
About his character everyone could say that he is a serious, hard-working, concentrated, egocentric and bitchy man, but actually the members say that he can always make them laugh, that’s why they love him so much. He is also famous with messing up other’s houses.
Have some facts : He loves to shop, he has an adorable doggie named Koron, he likes apple juice and spaghetti, he has a lot of piercings, winter inspires him and he was disowned, because he wanted to start a band.
Fanmail Ruki here, omgyay. DON'T SEND NAKED PICS, HE DOES NOT CARE ABOUT YOUR SEXUAL ORGANS.
URUHA. (Jun 9, 1981)
He is the shy cutie with the amazing thighs. Best thighs in j-rock, hands down. OF COURSE, guitar playing comes before the thighs, so don't think I'm shallow.
Gazette's lovable lead guitar player. I don't know what's not to love about him, he's probably the most adorable guy in the band. He is not conceited, despite the large number of people worshipping him, he is actually quite shy and isn't keen on the thigh showing part but nevertheless does it for his fans.
Uruha plays most of the guitar solos in the band and composes a lot. He ... doesn't really talk a lot due to his shyness. But when he smiles, everyone forgets to actually breathe. Or talk. Or do anything coherent whatsoever.
Have some facts : He likes and is good at football (soccer), billiards and bowling, he loves video games, he likes drinking, he is the tallest in the band, he has two older sisters and two nephews (but from what I've heard, he isn't on good terms with one of his sisters)
Fanmail Uruha here. He also does not care about your genitals, just so you know.
AOI. (Jan 20, 1979)
Aoi, also known as "the world's star". As a rhythm guitarist, he had been in a few groups before joining the GazettE. (and he had changed a lot of colors too but for goodness sake PLEASE stay black-haired. Plzktnx He also deeply respects Uruha.
Have some facts: He has a lot of piercings, he likes Asahi Super Dry, his favourite colours are black and white, he has an older brother and an older sister. He's random.
Fanmail Aoi here. No explicitness.
REITA. (May 27, 1981)
The bassist of the band. The Reita of the world, as he puts it. He has really wicked skills, which he demostrates in a number of songs (Miseinen and Ride with the rockers solo being the most notable). I always get the impression that the rhythm unit is ignored in favour of Ruki and the two guitarists, so in my opinion he should get more chances to demonstrate his wicked bass playing skills.
Personality wise, Reita is really thoughtful and considerate. He always posts the 'Happy Birthday' greetings to his bandmates exactly at 00:00 on the day, and if that's not love, I don't know what is. It is a well-known fact that he has been best friends with Uruha since they were 12 years old. He is also good friends with everyone else in the band and they fool around a lot. Gazette is so not srs bsns only.
Reita's fanbase in Japan is smaller than the other members' (notably Ruki, Uruha and Aoi) but overseas, the charming bassist has the largest fanbase of the five.
Have some facts : He is also good at soccer, him and Uruha were in their school's soccer team together, he loves watching movies, his favourite movie is Face Off (good taste), he loves Kit-Kats and spaghetti, he has an adorable pet parrot, he collects Sex Pistols merchandise, his parents are divorced (in fact, they divorced when he was really young, 5 years old, I believe).
Fanmail Reita here. You know the drill, no p0rn.
KAI. (Oct 28, 1981)
Gazette's leader. And drummer. More like 'drummer and leader' since drumming is his main occupation AND DAMN is he good at it. For example, check his drumming in "Before I Decay" or "Headache man" or any of their harder songs. It'll blow you away in all ways possible. You should look at his arms, it'll give you a general idea of how hard he hits them drums (no pun intended).
Personality wise, Kai is really sweet. His smile makes people melt in all kinds of ways. Just look at the dimples. And how he let's the others bully him (in a friendly way of course) because it makes them happy. And how he cooks French toast for them to calm them down when pissed off. This guy is all kinds of precious and his family, friends and loved ones are really amazingly lucky to know him.
Pity he is so underrated by the fans. WE NEED MOAR KAI LOVE.
Have some facts : He collects Zippos, he likes cooking, he doesn't like alcohol, prefers apple juice, he likes Christmas, he has his mother's smile ♥, he tends to forget stuff a lot.
Fanmail Kai here. No nakedness.
