dudes, i am thinking about a new camera. specifically, a point and shoot, since my trusty sony died a few months ago and my iphone just isn't a camera for all seasons.

so it's between these:
- panasonic lumix lx3 (expensive, but mmmm leica and it has a few quite sexy features and is brilliant in low light, though a shortish zoom)
- panasonic Read more... )

i don't actually have any of these cameras myself, and i've no idea about the model but friends of mine have a lumix with a leica lens and it takes gorgeous photos. i always said if i was ever to get a compact digital it'd be one of those!

i have a very battered canon eos 500. film all the way baby, mostly cross processed slide film. i have three plastic cameras that take some good pics occasionally too. i swear though, anyone can take a good picture as it's mostly about the framing & such rather than the equipment!

i've sorted out being in a group exhibition about birds, i'm well excited. it's in less than two weeks though so i'm gonna be busy!

woo! that's exciting :-)

yeah, i totally agree about how equipment doesn't make a good photographer, definitely. that said, i think that once you've got a bit of a sense of your own style and what you like to photograph, it is important to pick kit that complements that .. i guess that's what i'm trying to do, really. i went and had a play with some cameras at jessops today and it was pointless as they didn't have the one i most wanted to try out .. ho hum ..

yes indeed, a camera that complements your style is always good. i'll probably just keep using mine til it dies, then panic cos i know nothing about kit at all!
