caterpillar capers

on my return from a weekend away i discovered the caterpillar in the bath... lying very still *grimace* i reached down to it and touched it lightly and it did wriggle and grab onto my finger a short ways, enough for me to lift it out of the bath and offer it to one of the spider plants... onto which it climbed enthusasticlly and swiftly... and wasn't long getting back to munching at the leaves *smile* i think it must've been waiting for me, lying very still & conserving its energy until rescued. i'd often told it before then to take care not to fall into the bath, so i think it knew i cared. and it did seem to cooperate very swiftly and willingly, and a little sheepishly, with my retrieving it. so, i think the diarrhoea is down to plant-stuff not insecurity after all...

... particulalry as there is a second caterpillar of similar/same species living in the kitchen. i had suspected it for a while, but only saw it today, cos it had crawled into a bunch of grapes i bought & brought home yesturday. it has been living on the lemon geranium and has no diarrhoea. it is also a slightly different colour - redder - and less spritely. i suspect that's a plant/food source thing.
