She Lives.

So. I've been back in California for quite some time now, about two and a half weeks, and I suppose I feel the distinct need to update at this moment in time because I'm about to leave California again. Funny, right? Yes. Yes it is. I am currently sitting in the now-too-familiar Sacramento International Airport waiting for my 9:10am flight to CHICAGO. Outreach time again, ladies and gents. You can't hold this girl back.

I've been avoiding updating lately and I have absolutely no idea why, because there has been so much going on to talk about. Contributing factors may have been a.) the shoddy, terribly unreliable internet we boast at SFC, b.) this thing I'm trying for "self-improvement" and/or "self-discipline" where I go to bed early, get up early, and spend more time with people than electronics, c.) feeling a bit panicky about coming back out to CA for the spring semester (but that has since been resolved! whew), and/or d.) having too much to talk about and not knowing where to start.

Since we have last talked:
I have traveled over four thousand miles in six days.
I went on my first roadtrip across the country, with two of my best girlfriends.
I turned twenty-one.
I became flat-broke due to said roadtrip.
I had a minor crisis about whether another four months in CA was a good idea.
I made two new friends, i.e. the January interns that lived with me in the Stone House.
The new Woolman students arrived (yesterday!) and they're fabulous.
I decided not to bring Jack with me to California. (I'm quite sick of people telling me it's probably for the best, because I miss my dog and I don't necessarily think I agree that it was the right decision.)

I went to sleep last night around one, to finish packing and to watch some Weeds (it's a TV show, for those of you not in the know, and it's quite a hilarious one at that) with my dear January interns, Kate and Mandy. Kate goes to Oberlin College and Mandy, who was a Woolman student it's very first semester four years ago, goes to McAllister in Minnesota. We have fun together, the three of us. Mandy is currently flying out of Terminal B of this very same airport to return to said college and Kate is sleepily driving home because she was kind enough to get up at O-Dark-Thirty (Kathy said that the other day and I thought it was cute; it's a much politer way of saying "the ass-crack of dawn") to drop us off at the airport. I will miss them, alas. But! Lin and Jess and Kate (and Susannah, another new Teaching Intern!) have been having great fun lately as well so things will be just dandy. ANYWAY. I went to bed at one last night, and had to get up at 5:30am this morning to get to the airport in time, so I am sleep deprived and currently drinking a Venti Iced White Mocha from Starbucks. Which might explain my random typings and lack of coherency of this post. I'm sure I'm amusing you by now, so I'm quite okay with this.

The roadtrip was AMAZING. We had a great time. Lots of hilarity and potentially reckless behavior ensued (but safe! promise!).

I will have to tell you more about that later. We are boarding now. Ta!

FYI: I am in Chicago from today until Saturday Feb. 2nd, and then I'm driving to Ann Arbor, MI from that Saturday evening until Feb. 8th, when I'm flying back to California.
