A RESPONSE FROM DR. BROWSTEIN REGARDING MY UPPER SURGERY

Stevie:
There is no breast operation that will guarantee sensation. Given your
description, you are not a good candidate for keyhole. Any procedure that
preserves enough tissue to improve the chance for erotic sensation would, in
my estimation, leave too much breast tissue behind to really achieve the
right appearance. That is why I recommend the double incision operation for
those patients not suitable for keyhole.
We do not have a payment plan, but do have references to third party
companies that will finance procedures with credit.
The total of costs for the surgery comes to $7,550.
I am not currently scheduled for any meeting until the Harry Benjamin
meeting next April.
If you would like more detailed information, please provide a mailing
address and we will get it to you.
Regards,
Michael Brownstein

Strike one. I guess. I am intent on having a surgery that will maintain sensation in my chest... maybe if I lose enough weight, that in addition to the fat redistributing effects of the T will make 'em small enough for the surgery that does offer some hope of retaining erotic feeling.

I'm glad they have references for credit companies. If I can get my credit fixed, this may actually happen within a couple of years. The sooner the better. I need a new job. Now. No way I can fix my credit without one.

I've taken to praying recently. Not to the Judeo-Christian god in the sky, but to whatever higher power it is that allows people to find strength in adverse or hopeless situations (a category under which my financial situation definitely falls). If nothing else, the energy used and created in thinking about solving my problems should actually do so.

2004 has sucked balls. I'm glad it's almost over. I'm optimistic about the coming year-- chances are it's got to be better than this one. I kept my New Year's Resolutions last year. Here's an imaginary toast to having the same determination this year. Actually a real one-- I still have some scotch left in my glass...

May we all find the peace we are looking for.
