Answer to the wabi-sabi mystery picture.

In the atrium secret garden are two big old thick mirrors adhered to the cement wall. They have been there for about 15 or so years and the silver on the back of them was perfect when we put them up. Recently I was out there when the light was perfect for showing off some beautiful and unusual areas on the mirrors that are desilvering

Those are beautiful photos. The last one reminds me of a boulder opal stone.

Thanks, Mary Lou! I've seen mirrors that have desilvered before but I never really saw the beauty in them. I don't know what produced the colors unless it was the silicone reacting with the purple paint underneath. I have another mirror on an opposite wall and it is all black and whites swirls.

I just googled boulder opal stones and I can definitely see the resemblance. Wow! They are expensive.
