catching up with a big post . . .

A wonderful light and soaking rain most of last night and continuing today. It has been drier than our usual dry spring and everything was brown and parched. Today you can almost sit and watch things greening up! Temps are around 80, maybe even a little lower and a sunless sky. I do love bright sunny days, but since I rarely go out in the sun anymore, I welcome the gloomy and overcast days now. Here's a couple of pictures of a Hawk (I think it is a Red Shoulder) caught in the rain.

Pete is doing well. His PT is sometimes quite painful as they stretch and work the new knee, but after he ices up, he feels better. The hospital gave him a cooler type device that has a hose attached to a big wrap around pad that fits perfectly over the knee and circulates the icy water around after you plug it in. Instead of loose ice, you can freeze four bottles of water, put those in and add a little water to get it to the right level. It was unreal how swollen his whole leg was right after the surgery and for about 10 days. It is still swollen, but has gone down quite a lot. It is wonderful to not have to make leaky ice packs constantly. He uses it about six times a day. What a great invention! For those so inclined, here are some pictures of his knee.

Still bandaged . . .

For my part of the caregiving, those white hose were the worst. They were so tight and trying to stretch them enough to start to get them even over his foot was a painful thing for me and my arthritic fingers. There didn't seem to be any give to them at all and I had to try so hard not to jolt or disturb his knee too much. Once on over the foot, then came the heel and that was even worse. He had to wear them for two weeks and they would come on and off every other day!

Bandage off but staples still in . . .

Today -- stitches out and healing .....

The cooling device . . .

I got my new wall hung at the gallery a few days ago. I have been working on it for weeks now. I used to have a single wall space and five pedestals for my 3-D art. I gave those up for a double wall space. Right now I display my photography printed on stretched canvas. It is a nice clean look and very light weight, (I use Velcro hanging hooks since the walls in the gallery are all carpeted--so easy to change out and move things around) but I'm going to eventually incorporate some framed prints, too. And I hung some little shadow boxes and also some of the dragonflies.

We finally got Netflix and the first thing I am going to watch is "Bloodline." It came highly recommended, as much for the stunning photography of the Florida Keys, but also the suspenseful story. Has anyone else seen it? It is three seasons long and they are just wrapping up the third season now.

Oh, and I am joining a book club. I've never belonged to one before. It is a small group of seven of us (including me) and we are all artists from the gallery. I'm going to my first one at the end of June at Susan's house. The books to read (there's two of them for this month) are Secret Wisdom of the Earth by Christopher Scotten and The Art of Crash Landing by Melissa DeCarlo. I still have to order them, so I hope I can get them both read by then. I could get them on my Kindle, too.
