I’m having a few friends over on Monday for what I’m calling an all girls “light and breezy garden brunch” under the shade of the canopy and oak trees. I’ve invited six friends from the gallery whom I really like. Two potters (Debra & Susan); (Carole) an artist who paints with ink-big bold intense colors that she throws or splashes on the canvas then works from there to see where she will go next; a fimo clay artist and acrylic painter (Shirley); a painter and mixed media artist (Lee) who dreams up really cool art from everyday things she finds around the house-right now she is taking rusty tools with interesting designs, soaking them in a vinegar/water solution and wrapping in cotton fabric, then she will make this part of a collage; and Dorothy, who is not an artist, but I just like her so much, she is the wife of one of the photographers. My sister would fit in so well with this group (they are all wonderful introverts) and I wish she could be here with us.
I’ve asked them to come at 10 a.m. to visit and enjoy the garden, then we will eat at 11:00. I am making mushroom & spinach quiche; pear and walnut salad with a light vinaigrette; sliced tomatoes with fresh mozzarella cheese, drizzled with olive oil and sprinkled with fresh herbs; fruit punch; and Debra is going to bring a blueberry cobbler with vanilla ice cream.
The house and garden are both pretty well still clean and in order, so I’m not having to do much except cook, and I don’t really mind that especially for such a small group.
Right now the weather looks like it will be nice. It rained quite a bit last night and early this morning and it looks like everything I have been planting lately has grown and perked up already!

Pete was recently upgraded to a new Bi-pap machine and it appears to need quite a bit of adjusting. It was making horrible hissing noises because the mask was not sealing properly and leaking. To me, that noise was as bad as the snoring, so I slept out in the recliner for four nights. Last night he got out his old C-pap machine and mask and it was quiet and wonderful just like old times! He’s got an appointment tomorrow night with the sleep study guy to see about making some adjustments.

In about an hour I’m going to get my hair cut. I’ll hate it for about a week or so while my 14 cow licks are relaxing and falling back into place.
Here’s three pictures I took this morning....
After it rains, I call these succulents my little jewel carriers . . .
And here’s the little green anole that lost his tail. It is growing back, but unfortunately will never be as long as his original one.
And this bird was in the grass at the base of the feeder. I’m thinking it is a kind of wood thrush and maybe my sister will ID it for me. We don't get many of them around these parts.
