Well, there is only one egret. I know it's kind of confusing. Here's the story:
Last year, the egret we called Ernie stopped coming around daily in August/September 2015. Then an egret started coming around in December. They all look very much alike and at first we thought it was Ernie, but we had our doubts. He seemed to act a little bit different and also looked smaller than the original Ernie. Anyway, the guys decided this one wasn't Ernie and named him Jack, because one of the regulars at happy hour, whose name is Jack, hadn’t been coming for a while and so they named the new egret Jack. This new one, Jack, is much more vocal. We don't remember Ernie ever making much of any sound at all. We're not sure what happened to the original Ernie. Egrets are usually loners, and the only times I have seen more than one at a time is in the wild when they would be with a bunch of other kinds of birds feeding at the water, when they have found a mate and are nesting, or at a rookery.
Some pictures are just crying out to be black & white and I thought this was definitely one of them. The color shot was kind of dull and boring, but when I made it black & white everything changed, especially the mood and it became much more dramatic.
