Priscilla and I went out early yesterday morning. The air was fresh and cool (by Florida standards) and it felt so good just to be out in it. First we went to Neal Preserve. It was about 8 a.m. and the sun had been up about an hour. The ponds along the pathways were filled with water. That was such a nice sight to see as a few weeks ago some places seemed to be drying up. We got caught out on the trail in the first down pour of the morning. It's a good thing I had a big shirt on so my camera stayed dry, but I looked like a drowned rat as I ran as fast as I could back to the car. Well, I really don't run anymore, I don't think I could if my life depended on it, but I picked up my usual slow meandering pace by quite a bit.
Next stop was the historic Village of Cortez and Starfish Company. A break in the rain as we pulled into the parking area out front. Old Florida at every turn -- I love this place. This picture ended up being my favorite of the day . . .
We drove around to a few other places, and then it was time for lunch at our Thai place. We both remarked as we ate that the green curry is so satisfying (almost healing) to the taste buds and the soul.
