Pete and I spent Sunday afternoon at daughter, Laurie’s new apartment installing the mosaic and also hanging up some of her other artwork and things on the walls. She is still in the midst of unpacking and putting things away, but she has got a real good start on it all.

Here is her mosaic mounted on the wall . . .

Thanks!

No. I had actually thought about putting down 12" square mirror tiles and building everything on top of those, but I quickly discovered that when there would be a piece of clear or cathedral glass on top of where the mirrors butted together, that crack or line would be visible and that bothered me, so decided against it. Yes, it would have been faster & simpler, I know. The glass that I mounted the mirror behind is raised up above the other glasses, but when I grouted it I was able to slope the grout so the difference in glass height is hardly noticeable, and gives it a bit more dimension.

Some examples of where I cut mirrors to go behind each piece of glass are in 4 & 6, actually every partial orb that is across the whole bottom has mirror cut and adhered to the back of each piece. Also in 9, and a few other places, too. The round green globs also have a small round of mirror behind them and they do stick up quite a lot. Also the agate.

All the silver and gold black background is one single piece (layer) of glass, as is also the colored mirror glass that already had a reflective backing on it.
