A backyard morning . . .

It's been a busy morning so far. I had planned on going to the studio first thing, but I spotted orchid blooms when I looked out my kitchen window. They must have started opening in just the last day or two. I really hope that all or most of them will open and stay open at once. But this is it so far . . .

Then I started walking around a bit and soon discovered some critter had been digging and creating havoc all over the place.

Several of my raised beds of succulents had big holes dug in them with the dirt and stones strewn out all over the place, I found some of my garden art many feet away from where it was supposed to be and one of my tree orchids had been knocked clean out of its holder and lay all broken on the ground. I picked it up and put it back together the best I could . . . hopefully I was able to salvage it-time will tell. Whatever it was just didn’t stay on the ground, but explored around in the trees also.

I don't think the critter did this, but I just noticed it. I have four "earthmothers" in the ground around the garden and this is the second one cracked. I guess just old age happened . . .

I could hear the little wispy cheep-cheep-cheep of cardinals and counted about six of them flitting around the trees. I think this is the most we’ve had before at one time.

Lots of other little birds were at the feeders, too . . .

Oh, and I found the two little balls of moss that had been growing on the north screen had been knocked loose and were laying out in the gravel. So I decided to see if I could get them to grow in the secret garden.

And constant interaction goes on all day long between the inside and outside lizards . . .

Tonight is Camera Club. We are going to do indoor, still life, tabletop shooting. I haven't done much of this, so I hope to learn some new stuff. We were all asked to bring in some interesting items from around our homes, so later today I will look around and see what I can find for that.

I started the commission yesterday and now I'm ready to cut glass. I'd better get moving or it will be time for lunch . . . so on to the studio!
