Now I can relax. Pete arrived safe and sound in Franklin, PA this morning. Franklin is our hometown, where we were both born and raised, married, and our two daughters were both born there.
He drove through the night. He stopped twice to try and sleep a bit across the front seat of the truck, but was not able to, so continued on. His trip went smoothly (approximately 1100 miles). It took him 21 hours, including food, gas, and rest stops. He hit rain as soon as he got into Georgia, and it rained steadily until Charlotte, North Carolina, about the half way point. Then he drove the rest of the way by the light of a big, beautiful, bright full moon in a clear sky.
As he drove down the hill (Pittsburgh Road) into the nearly deserted town, the old familiar "time and temperature" sign flashed on the corner bank. 5:32 a.m., 38 degrees.
