Who am I kidding? I don't really know if it was the norovirus, but it did seem some kind of stomach flu kinda thing. I just know it's some kind of crud that seems to be going around.
The "bummer, dude!" department: I was vaguely sick for maybe half a day, then sick for maybe a day and half.
Things to be grateful for: I did not seem to get as bad as other people. Never threw up, no fever.
Things to be exceedingly grateful for: I live in the future, at least compared to a large portion of the population of this Earth. I have clean safe water and safe food. I was tucked inside my clean warm house where I could sleep over 12 hours per day and recuperate. Zantac is wonderful when you can't eat and excess stomach acid is unwelcome. Gatorade and ramen can readily restore not only water, but sugars, salts and minerals -- dehydration is much more dangerous than the infection in cases like this and it's what kills most people in the same circumstances around the world (as a matter of fact, less than 100 years ago royalty was dying of the same stuff I had, it was worse for the peasants). I would also not be surprised if people told me Vitamin C and acidophilus (pro-biotics) helped shorten the recovery and they certainly didn't make it worse.
Also, if one happens to find oneself sitting on a toilet for a few hours during illness, a portable computer and a wireless network does wonders, I have no idea how many tiles my bathrooms have. Just saying. ;-)
Last, but not the least, I highly recommend having access to a
dpolicar and a Sasha, but I know not everyone can be as privileged as I am.
May we all be safe, may we all be healthy, may we all be happy, may we all be at ease.
