Day 3 of paleo and I can't believe how satisfied I feel with meals! I realized how little I actually WANT grains. I'm not craving them and only when rice and beans are in front of me do I lament not being able to eat it. I've been feeling satisfied with meat and little else.

I'm also craving carrots a lot, which has always been my favorite veggie, ( Read more... )

YEAH I'm a pasta and bread lover too (my mom is italian and my husband is gifted in baking), so I was dreading giving it up! But to be honest, the minute I focused on eating more meat, I felt so much more satisfied that I didn't even crave pasta at all. It isn't until it's in front of me that it's a slight challenge, but even then I just feel so good without it that it's easier to say no. Of course there are days when I'm allowed to cheat, so I'm never going to completely swear off pasta---I love it too much! And Ian makes only the best kind of bread with the healthiest grains so if I'm going to eat any grains it'll be that.

And I feel you on the veggies: I really don't like greens! But the best part about this diet is that the most important vegetables are root veggies like carrots, potatoes, and yams, which don't taste like rabbit food!

That's pretty awesome! I don't know why it didn't occur to me that I could substitute honey for sugar in almost everything, but it didn't, haha. I really love honey, especially in tea like you said. I should try to make something with honey and see how it comes out!

I've actually heard that the hype about agave being healthier is not true! I haven't looked into it too hardcore but from what I understand, the sugar content is out of this world and it's definitely worse for you than honey or cane sugar. I've never tried it so that kind of helps to not know what deliciousness I'm sacrificing, haha.

That's so funny about the farting girl!! It's true! If you eat only fruits and veggies, you fart a lot worse because contrary to popular belief, it isn't meat that rots in your colon, it's veggies! And when things aren't digested in your intestines, the last resort is to have them sent to your colon to be broken down by bacteria which is why you fart, and which is WHY an all-veggie diet isn't ideal because your body can't use every part of a veggie like it can use every part of the meat.

SORRY for the long educational rant, haha! Didn't mean to do that ;)
