Today it is finally raining. We have had a few sprinkles, but it's been ages since we have had a decent storm. It was raining so hard on my way to work that I could barely see. I didn't mind though because it's so great to see real rain. By the time I pulled into the parking deck at work, the rain had pretty much let up. Just as I came out from under the deck, it started raining again. I paused for a second, contemplating whether to pull my raincoat out of my backpack or just get wet. I opted for getting wet and quickly walked the 30 or so feet to the door. I didn't get too wet. It is currently pouring down. Yay!
As I was wrapping up this entry a patron came up to tell me she has a (computer) day pass but was going to lunch. She wanted to know if she needs to do anything. I assured her that her pass was good for all day. She then asked if it always rains like this. I told her we hadn't really had any rain all summer. She said that if it rained like this in Colorado, they would be flooded. I replied that we do that thunderstorms in the summer that are like this, but this summer has been especially dry. She looks somewhat amazeed, then asked about the coffee shop downstairs. I gave her directions.
I am so used to our weather here that the heavy downpours during thunderstorms don't seem in the least odd. Interesting to hear a perspective from someone who lives elsewhere. :-)
